Title: Help with RC-2000 to TS-2000 cable
Post by: kb6vtu on 2012-06-12, 15:27:31
Hi,
I've put together a cable, but not 100% sure it correct. I'm concerned that if it isn't correct I'm going to fry something. This is the cable that goes from the RemoteRig to the radio microphone input.

I cut the microphone extension cable that came with the RC-2000. I determined that the Black, Red, Shield, and White wires were the four I should use to connect in the RJ-45. I did so in that order from left to right with the clip up and the cable coming out to the left as shown in the manual on page 183.

Can anyone confirm I have done that correctly. I've never made this type of cable and using the shielding as one of the conductors seemed strange.

thx,
josh

Hello,

You will never get a response, because rarely does anyone cut a stock cable and know what color is what unless they own the same exact cable.

If in doubt, get a friend to do this for you.

This won't help much after the cable is cut, but I got TS-2000/RC-2000 working without cutting any cable. I just used cables included with the remoterig and the RC-2000. The RC-2000 console to RRC used the RC-2000 standard cable and the radio RRC to TS-2000 used a 'standard' 4 wire modular to modular straight through cable that I found in the remoterig box. I wish that they wouldn't say that the cable needs to be cut for this configuration.

Helllo!

As AE5OQ stated, he was able to use the RC-2000 four-wire cable as manufactured, so it would seem that any straight through four-wire cable will work.  I too am reluctant to cut the existing cable!  I would rather purchase a new cable.
