Title: Logger32 and w10
Post by: ea1cgk on 2016-04-21, 20:20:02
Good afternoon!

recently I have changed my operating system to Windows 10. The cat and logging program is Logger32 and the setup is the same in w7 and w10.
The problem is the same from other hams. I can send frequency and mode but the program doesn't read anything from the radio. I have a debug window and the program seems not to read nothing from serial port.

I have read this thread

http://www.remoterig.com/forum/index.php?topic=4246.0

Is the problem under w10 or under Logger32?

Is the problem in in how Logger32 reads serial data from the Com port?

My firmware versión is 2.89 and the radio a IC-706MKIIG

Best regards!!

Judging from the symptoms you see, i.e. only data out from the PC, not in, it sounds like the Win10 problem several programs suffer from. The problem is a combination of how Win 10's USB serial ports behave and how the program reads data from the serial port. A particular way of reading data that has worked in all previous versions of Windows does not work in Win10. The necessary change is small, but essential.

Hello Jan,

Many thanks for your response.

I will try to contact with the Logger32 developers and I need to know how information is necessary for make this modification.

Can you explain the needed modification?

Thanks for your time and support,

Maybe it would be easier if you got in contact with them and provide me with contact info(PM/Email) so that I can communicate directly with them?
