Title: ts 480 not transmitting
Post by: 9a4na on 2024-10-23, 08:44:44
Hello to the group.
I have ts 480 that has been working remotely for almost two years without problem.
Since few weeks it does not transmit. It connects as it should, receiver is working ok.
When i press key in cw mode I hear side tone but led stays green radio does not transmitt.
In SSB mode when i press ptt on mike led goes to red to tx but when talking into the microphone nothing. Modulation is not going thru.
Any idea how to solve this problem?
Thank you in advance.

I have had same issue 2 weeks ago.  The reason was simple but not very obvious. In the Radio end, one setting was changed. Codec out gain was 0, should be 255. This has happened once before after few weeks shutdown.

I am also in a similar situation.
When I press PTT, up to RRC-1258 is recognized as transmitting, but the TS-480 does not enter the transmitting state and remains receiving.
If you connect the microphone directly to the TS-480, it will be able to transmit normally.
From this, it can be seen that this is an anomaly in RRC-1258.
However, if the condition suddenly developed and two other people besides me were experiencing the same symptoms, there must be some fatal cause, so I would like to find out the cause.

In addition, when I output the settings from the RRC-1258 where the error occurred and replaced it with the one that input the settings to another RRC-1258, I was able to use it normally.
Is it some kind of hardware problem?

Hi all,

Last week and suddenly I had the same problem. I was in contact with my ISP. They did a lot of tests without success and after reading this threat I found the solution. The problem was just in the "Codec out gain" I had 0 and I had no audio output. I changed it to 255 as OH6FSG said and "voila" the audio came through again.

A million thanks for sharing your experience.
