With both sides set to mode3-char timeout, 58400 I plug the TTL cable in and I see the following debug on the radio side:

COM2-TX: 00 00 00 00 0f [5]
COM2-TX: 00 00 00 00 03 [5]

Mike,

I appreciate your response very much.

I went to try what you suggested and this what happened;  setting com 2 mode to inactive didn't work for the CT-62 cable.  also setting both side com2 mode to 4 - yaesu didn't work at all.(I would see buffer overflow on radio side)  What seems to work is setting both sides to mode3 - char timeout.  This at least got me to something that works.  HRD can see the radio and things seem to work even at 38400 using com2 and CT-62 cable.  (I tried with ft-817, and ft-857)  This confirms that at least the hardware and cables are functioning.  Unfortunately my TTL din6->rj-12 cable is not working yet.

I'm using firmware version 2.15 on each side.  Any more suggestions?

I'm trying to setup my RRC-1258mkII with HRD and FT-817ND.  Currently both units are connected to a common switch and the audio link is working fine.

I have a laptop with HRD, and a usb->rs232 and a CT-62 cable.  When these are connected directly to the radio, HRD works fine.

I connect the usb->rs232 to the rrc control side com2 and then rrc radio side com2 to ct-62 to the FT-817ND.  I set both com2 to be the same parameters 9600, N, 2 and mode 3? that includes "Yaesu".  I would think this should work, but it doesn't.  HRD does not see the radio.  First question; is this supposed to work?(in other words do others have something like this working with ft817 or ft897?)

I'm a bit fuzzy about com0/TTL port.  Since the above didn't work I went and made a cable as described in Yaesu-cable-Y6-2.pdf with Din6<->RJ-12, and I think my cable is fine.  I connect that to com0/TTL and remove the CT-62, I still cannot see the radio from HRD.  I guess my second question is when I select program mode 3 for yaesu 8x7 does that tie com0 with com2?  Or when I select mode3 com0 is enabled instead of com2?  In other words can you clarify the relationship between com2 and com0 (in general and specifically for mode 3)

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide me, I've spent quite a bit of time considering many different aspects and I really just want to get this up and running.(my current hunch is something wonky with the USB->RS232, but there are so many other things that might be wrong)
