Mike, was the information I emailed to you sufficient?

General discussion forum / AS-1289 Cannot update firmware
« on: 2024-09-23, 21:18:33 »

My remote system includes the K3 Twin with RRC-1258 MkII and a Microbit AS-1289 antenna switch. All has worked well for a couple years.

When I recently visited my remote QTH I browsed the Microbit website and saw what I believed was an update for the firmware. I was confused by the firmware offered for a AS-1289 vs a AS-1216. I must have installed the wrong firmware because the switch now comes up as a rotator configuration and I cannot restore it.

The AS-1289 manual is ambiguous and mentions the AS-1216 so I installed the latest firmware 1216H_WebSwitch_Ham-CRC-NEW-2024-06-04-v4.94.bin. The setup manager connects OK.

However, the 1289 does not work as an antenna switch after this installation. So I looked further and found firmware specifically for the 1289 on the web site. I downloaded AS-1269_1289_v4.59_2019-12-10_v4.59.  The setup manager shows: version 003; Firmware: 4.59; Bootloader: 1.13; HW: 003. Also correctly shown is "Device connected!" and 3648==3648.

So the update appears to be successful. However the "System Info" on the web page shows RC-1216H as the device and v4.59. I have tried several times to install the firmware for the AS-1289 but no success.

So I screwed up with the update! Is there a way to reset the AS-1289 to clear the firmware and then install the correct firmware? Or maybe another way?

Thanks

Is it possible to use the xxxxx.ddns.remoterig.com service with user name and password to communicate with a remote Elecraft KPA1500 amplifier?  How may that be done?

KPA1500 Remote application doesn't seem to be configurable to accomplish this.

That works nicely Mitch, thanks.

Still don't understand why the DDNS Webswitch approach won't work for me.

Thank you for your help!

The remoterig DDNS status website reports:

RRC DynDns Result
User   ws1216H-3648
Host Name   xxxxxx.ddns.webswitch.se
IP Address   50.50.248.72
Last update   2020-07-12 06:07:37
Update count   20

In addition, the AS1289 "System Info" reports:

Max available memory   18301
DNS status   OK, remoterig.com = 213.180.92.125
Dynamic DNS status   Unknown
Ping status (watchdog)   Off
Active profile   Default
Last WD Reset   1
TCP Error counter   0
Webserver   1

From time to time the Dynamic DNS status shows "Error, code = 103".

How do I use the same DDNS address as the RRC-1258 as you suggest?  If you mean to use the same Dynamic DNS hostname, ddns.remoterig.com, I am unable to change that in the "Dynamic DDNS settings/ Dynamic DNS hostname".

Yes, I did try a different browser.  It's interesting that the router works fine with the RRC-1258.  I forwarded the port for the AS-1289 in the same way that I forwarded the ports for the RRC so should be alright. So I'm really baffled.

Is everything OK on the xxxxx.ddns.webswitch.se end of things?

The error comes from the browser when I attempt to connect to http://xxxx.ddns.webswitch.se:13005 from my control location.

Yes, thanks Mitch.  But get "refused to connect".  At the router I tried setting up a new forwarded port and still get the error.

My AS-1289 is working on LAN at the remote site.  I am unable to reach it remotely from my control site using "Own host name" http://xxxxx.ddns.webswitch.se as specified in the manual and receive the error "This site can't be reached".  (xxxxx is the name assigned by the webswitch).

Port forwarding is setup at the remote router.  When I go to ddns.remoterig.com/status/ the response is:

RRC DynDNS Result

User:  ws1216H-3648
Host Name:  xxxxx.ddns.webswitch.se
IP Address:  50.50.244.222
Last update:  2020-06-30  o2:46:12
Update count:  7

Further, RRC-1258 MKII is working nicely with K3 Twins.

Help is appreciated!

Problem resolved.  The 12 VDC/1A power plug was defective.

It is deceiving that Microbit Setup app works properly via the USB connection even when there is no 12 VDC power applied to the device. The green LED pulsates and Setup programs the device correctly. That is, power is provided from the USB.

Subsequently when 12 VDC is applied, and an ethernet connection is made, the yellow LED adjacent to the ethernet connector will light and the device works as expected.

Tried two different ethernet cables; no joy.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Yes, DHCP is selected.

BTW, S/N is 3648, F.W. is 4.27 and H.W. is 003.

It seems strange to me that there is no ethernet activity shown by the LED.

Configuration, Webswitch 1216H / AS-1298 No Ethernet Link
« on: 2020-01-24, 21:33:54 »
I just received an AS-1289 antenna switch.  Communication with the device via USB and Microbit Setup works fine.  I assigned an IP address, netmask, def gateway, etc.
However, I cannot communicate with it via an ethernet connection to my router.  Have tried several different cables.  Further, there is no flashing ethernet Link LED as I would expect.

No problems with similar RRC1258MkII ethernet setup and connection.

Any suggestions?  TNX
