I am having problems also.
does someone have Mitch's checklist ?
I used to have it, but seems to have disappeared

I think I have corrected the receive problem, but I don't know what to do about the CW problem.

any thoughts anyone ?

Running yaesu twin setup. SSB and CW working well, but suddenly developed new problems:
1) Cannot get much audio on receive – only get a few strong stations, but mostly the bands sounds dead.
2) when I try CW mode with my keyer:
-with the dot side I get a string of alternating dots and dashes(dot-dash-dot-dash-dot-dash… etc…..)
-with the dash side I get nothing. It does not even put the rig into transmit mode.
All settings thee same. I restarted both RRC's. Internet has a good fast connection.
Does anyone have any ideas ?
Thanks, Fred VE3PIE

Hi Mitch,
I will email my control RRC settings to you.
I am having the same problem in florida as I did at home
The COM1 mode is set to Mode-7. The USB com port as com1 is set to off.
With these settings I was able to use the serial port with  a serial cable attached to the front of the RRC.

When I tried to set the USB com port port as COM1 to "yes" it did not work, and still doesn't. I tried both Modes 6 and 7 with the usb as COM1.
thanks, Fred

Hi Mitch,
When I tried this with the computer at home HRD would not work when connected with usb cable. that is why I had to use a serial port.
I will try again with the usb cable. The usb cable is already plugged in for the EXTFSK port. I will try changing the settings on the control RRC and give it a try.

General discussion forum / Problem opening Ham Radio Deluxe
« on: 2013-12-28, 22:03:43 »
At my control RRC site I am trying to open Ham Radio Deluxe.
I am running the yaesu  twin setup and everything else seems to be working.
During the initial testing phase I used a different computer  and HRD opened up.  Now the control RRC is in a different city and I cannot hookup the original computer. The original computer had a serial port (assigned COM1), but on the new computer I am using a usb to serial converter.
On this new computer my ports show:
RRC1258  COM0  (COM6)
RRC1258  COM1  (COM7)
RRC1258  COM2  (COM11)
RRC1258  COMFSK  (COM5)
Prolific USB-to-Serial COMM Port   (COM12)
All the ports were initially set at 9600 baud,
and I changed  all the ports to match the RRC baud rate -38400

I have set HRD to auto detect  the port at 38400 baud. Does not work.
Which COM port is the correct one ? COM12 ?

Is the problem the cheap usb to serial converter ? Should I install a serial port card in the computer ?
I would consider a Star-Tech serial card 2 types - one with 16550 UART and the other with chipset PLX/Oxford-OXPCIe952.   Or is there a better card to get ?

I would appreciate anyone's help

I have the power supply working.
I have checked all the connections.
the strange thing is that if connected to a computer with usb cable it will not work unless setup manager has been installed.
Could it have something to with the 1216H virtual port ?
This is very strange. If it was a voltage problem I would have expected it to work even without setup manager installed.
What to do now ? Return it to you for repair or new one ? Or do you have any other suggestions ?
thanks, Fred

Hello Jan,
I have discovered that the rotator will initialise only if the webswitch usb connector is connected to a computer running microbit setup manager with the 1216H virtual port.
I connected to the webswitch by inputing the IP address in internet explorer. Once the 1216H screen came up I was able to control the relays switches properly. However the rotator (attached via the 1216S adapter) would not initialise unless the usb connector on the webswitch was connected to a usb port on the computer. The computer used was on the same network as the webswitch. Microbit setup manager is loaded onto this computer and has a virtual 1216H port.

I then tried a different computer connected to the internet with a different modem completely separate from the network containing the webswitch. This is equivalent to a remote site. I used internet explorer to access the webswitch.  The relays worked perfectly. I could not initialise the rotator. I then loaded microbit setup manager onto the computer. I could then initialize the rotator only if I once again attached the usb connector on the webswitch to the usb port on the computer.  What I found surprising is that I could also initialise the rotator using internet explorer on the second computer if I connected the usb connector on the webswitch  to the first computer.

To clarify:  The rotator works perfectly if I used it attached to a serial port on the computer so I know the rotator is working fine.  The webswitch relays work fine when accessed from the same network or from a remote site. The temperature sensor works fine with or without the usb connection to the webswitch.  The rotator will initialise only if the webswitch is connected to any computer  running microbit setup manager.

Can you identify what the problem is? I don't want to have to keep a computer running microbit setup manager at the radio site for the usb connection.
Is this a configuration problem or a hardware problem ?
Thanks, Fred

Looking for the download file on the website for the antenna switch 1269. Cannot find it. In the manual it shows photos using the webswitch 1216H firmware update file. Is this correct ?

I am having a similar problem. I am using yaesu twin remoterig setup. Control site has FT-2000 and radio site has FTDX9000.
CW and SSB work properly. MMTTY receives properly. Problem is that when I try to transmit using MMTTY using FSK the transmitted signal is only a single tone. I would appreciate any suggestions as to the problem and how to fix it. I read that you fixed with a RJ-45 connection to the RRC.
my FSK port is working. I think that I need some physical connection from the RRC to key the FSK signal to the FRTDX-9000.
I hope that the RJ-45 connector has the FSK output port. Then perhaps I can plug it into the RTTY jack at the back of the FTDX9000. Without this connection I don't see how it keys the rig for the FSK signal. Is this what your problem was ?

I installed a new extended webswitch with 1216S adapter cable. I have a Yaesu G-2800DXA rotator, and am using the DCU-1 protocol at 4800 baud. The webswitch has software version 3.3, hardware 2, bootloader 1.10.
It was working perfectly, but now when I press the power button it says "initialisation in progress" and then "rotator not initialised", and remains disabled.
I checked the connections of the 1216S adapter to the board, and it is ok.
There is a green LED next to the USB port that is constantly flashing on and off, and I don't know if this is normal.
Can anyone help ?

I have an idiom press RotorCard DXA for my yaesu rotator.
works fine with direct RS-232 connection to computer running Ham Radio Deluxe.
I connected it to the 1216S adapter which is connected to the 1216H as per instructions on the website.
I have it set for the DCU-1 protocol.
It was working properly, then suddenly stopped working. Now I get an error message saying the rotator is not initialised.
What is going on ? How do I fix this ?
thanks, Fred VE3PIE

Hi Mitch,  or anyone else...

Let me see if I have this straight This is all new to me:
To use yaesu twin setup with computer attached to control RRC for MMTTY and for logging program like HRD or TRX manager or DX4WIN

Control RRC settings:
Control radio:   38400 baud and program mode 10
Use USB Com Port as COM0  -->  yes or no ????

Control RRC serial settings:   COM1 mode:   mode-6, CAT to COM2 (local)
Use USB Com Port as COM1  -->   yes or no ???

COM2 mode:  Logical parallel with COM0
Use USB Com Port as COM2    -->   yes or no ???

                                   COM3 mode (USB-COMFSK):  Mode-10, Baudot-RTTY

Radio RRC settings:

Radio:   38400 baud and program mode 10
Serial settings:    COM1 mode:   inactive ?? or something else
COM2 mode:     Logical parallel with COM0

thanks very much for you expertise and guidance. Need clarification for 3 questions above
