I've started to play with my 706 now
While I try to find my CI-V cable do I understand this right ,  the control head still needs to be connected remotely or direct attached to the radio body for audio ?

If direct attached, where is the connection to the remote rig box ?

Also when you connect with the Nano app, that turns the radio on ?

Before I go to crazy here (translates to setting up the radio side, buying a Android tablet (whats a good one that works ?), then downloading and installing the app, has anyone done this procedure using a ic706, that would care to share their experience ?

Initially, Im more interested in listening at first, then working into the transmit side.
Unless I'm really missing something here, this app would take the place of the remote head ?
For casual listening or just keeping me busy when I'm out it sounds like a great thing to mess around with.

Any comments ?

General discussion forum / rrc-1258 mkii NIC port radio

Well, went to use my 706 remoterig, and could not turn the radio on.
Could not connect to the radio side via IP, checked the black box to find that the link light is blinking on the radio box.
tried a new cable, different port no joy.
I can connect via USB and see the setting, which haven't changed.

Anyone seen the NIC go in their radio side ?
any ideas ? short of buying a new one ?
