Internet bandwidith needed for remote SO2R
« on: 2014-01-30, 20:49:21 »
Hi, Mirek SP1NY here.
Most probably I will start my adventure with remote this year.
First step will be with TS-480 but want to develop system to two Yaesu twins in SO2R configuration later.
At remote site have ADSL with 5MB.
I'm wonder if it's enough to transfer all needed audio and control signals???
On the other hand I can run major contests directly from remote site as
it's located only 30 km from my home.

Hi Mirek

The important is the uplink bandwidth  from the radio-QTH. I now mike SJ2W run one single RX and one double RX rig at his contest station on a 1 Mbit/s uplink without problem. Here you can see about the bandwidth need http://www.remoterig.com/wp/?page_id=388

Thanks for prompt reply Mike.
Looks like I can make it but must run some test on site
to check quality and speed of ADSL.
Here in SP-land in rural areas, as mine, ADSL bandwidth  is often limited.
I bought this property a few days ago so don't know yet what is the situation,
but reach at least 2-3 Mbit/s shouldn't be a problem.
