Audio Quality - Can I Improve TX Audio Only?
« on: 2014-07-12, 20:00:21 »
Hello all,

Is it possible to adjust TX audio quality independently of RX audio quality? For example, could I set one RRC's Audio Quality to number "2" and the other RRC's Audio Quality to number "0"?

The "0" setting would be OK for me for my RX, but I would like Audio Quality setting of "2" for my TX audio.

If this is possible, which RRC unit should be set to "0" and which one should have the "2" setting?

I'm just trying to save on the Internet bandwidth. I can live with worse RX audio quality, but I would like to keep TX audio good.

Hi

As long as the sample rate is the same you can use different coding for TX and RX. The selection is done in the transmitting end. Eg TX audio quality is set in Control-RRC etc.

Mike,

Thanks. I just did it as follows (and it works):

Radio RRC (this affects RX audio quality): Audio Quality "0"
Control RRC (this affects TX audio quality): Audio Quality "2"

I did notice the RX audio quality has degraded a bit in comparison to my previous "2" setting, but I'm willing to live with it for now. If it becomes an issue, or when ever I need better quality, I can easily switch it back from "0" to "2".

I wan't to keep my TX audio relatively good (hence the "2" setting).
