CAT Checklist
« on: 2015-01-25, 16:19:13 »
I understand that there is a CAT checklist available.  I'd like to get a copy of it, if possible, to configure my IC-706MKIIG for either RRC-Micro or RRC-Nano operation.

I would also like to have access to one of the RS-232 ports at the Radio end to connect a computer to.  I did this with a TS-480SAT remote in the past, but that radio was not CAT.

Thanks, Joe, K1ike

Joe,

My CAT checklist is for the TS-480 and Icom is different. I understand that unlike all
other rigs, Icom can use COM0 for CAT, so all you need to do is to use that port. If
I am wrong, Mike or someone should correct me. I have no experience with Icom rigs,
only Elecraft, Yaesu and Kenwood.

Hi

Ic-706 can be remote controlled via CI-V from RRC-Micro (not Nano) but remember that the Front panel must be attached to the radio when using CI-V. The chapter in the manual called "ICOM in general" describes the setup via COM0/TTL, as the IC-706 controlled via CI-V is like other ICOMs without detachable frontpanel the instructions are applicable also to 706
