Hughesnet

I have spent hours searching and reading... sorry if this is a duplicate but could not find an answer.

I am trying to remote to my farm in Missouri.  I can only get Hughesnet at the farm. 

I have had remoterig working with my Elecraft K3 when using wired internet in other states but I simply can't seem to get hughesnet (satellite) to work.  I have read that IPv6 is a possibility or that a VPN is an option.

I am open to doing either.  If the VPN is an easier solution I would be glad to go that route.   I know very little about setting up and using the IPv6 vs IPv4.  From reading it seems that a VPN might be a better solution.

Any advice and/or does someone know of a thread that can help me?  Thanks in advance.  I have been trying to get hughesnet to work for 6 months... very frustrating.

Thank you for the prompt response....

So, I have looked at this answer a number of times and I am struggling with it.   So let me pose the question a little differently:

Has anyone in remote areas, successfully used a remoterig setup without DSL or Cable internet?  If so how did they do it?  I am likely wrong but it seems that one of the purposes of the remoterig is to operate stations that are remotely located? 

I can get dial-up internet at my farm and I can get satellite internet from a number of providers (I selected Hughesnet but could have selected others).  I am open to any solution if there is one out there that would work.

I am not sure if I understand your comment about the purpose being remotely located. Without a good internet connection, you
just plain can't use it. It can't work by magic!
