RRC1258MkII & RRC Micro - no audio

Help please. I received the RRC-1258MkII and RRC Micro combo a few weeks ago. I have been attempting to get it working all week with limited success. Everything works, as far as I can tell (hear clicking from radio when change bands), but very weak audio on PC speakers or headset. I scoured the forum and found similar issues reported by several folks, but answers are unclear.

My setup . . .

RRC-1258MkII connected to IC-706Mk2G with modified OPC-581 cable (verified correct)

Control PC on local LAN with 1274B dongle

Ports 13000-13002 forwarded to RRC-1258 in router

Serial connectivity is OK - HRD controls radio (hear radio relays clicking when changing bands)

I hear very weak audio on PC when tuned to strong signal

Status of RRC-1258 shows "UDP cmd status  Error(0)" indicating failure of UDP
communication.

I also notice that 1274B does not show up in Device Manager.

I understand Mike has a networking guide that may shed some light on this problem - please send.

I think you have mixed up things. If you will use the the IC-706 with RRC micro you should not use the OPC-581 cable. The front panel should be fit to the radio body and you should connect mic, speaker and CI-V cables between the radio and the Radio-RRC. Look at the manual at the chapter "ICOM in general", NOT the IC-706 chapter, The 706 chapter only describes the situtation when you have the frontpanel separated over a pair of RRCs. When using IC-706 via CI-V it's like any other ICOM.

Mike - Thanks for the quick reply. Is there any reason I could not utilize the ACC connector on the 706 for AF_IN, AF_OUT & PTT?  Are the levels compatible? I would, of course, still use the REMOTE jack for CI-V.
If this is acceptable, I could use any ICOM radio with an ACC port and one RCC1258MkII/RCC Micro pair.

No the levels in and out from the RRC is designed to be connected to a mic input and a speaker output and I don't think the ACC jack has that. But before you spend to much to interface HRD and CI-V to a 706 the control available at the 706 CI-V protocol is very limited,there is no Volume control for an example so if you have as you write other ICOMs I think you should go for an other.

The IC-706 is perfect to use with Remoterig when you separate the Control panel with a pair of RRC:s but the CI-V control of the IC706 is very limited.
