configuration with radio connected?

Hello,

i am new on this forum and trying to connect mij icom 706MK2G with remoterig.
i mad the connection cable for both sides and when i connect them tougether with jt45 connector the set works so the cable must be OK but Do i have to connect the radio and control head of mij icom 706MK2G to both boxes while configuration or first configurate an then connect?

The boxes do not need to be connected to the radio and panel when you do the setup
