COM 1 with version 1.5.1
« on: 2012-04-13, 23:06:30 »
COM 2 has been working so well with any CAT software I have tried, I wanted to try using RRC-micro to monitor my Expert 1K-FA Amp on COM 1.  I have been doing this using a RRC-1258 to RRC-1258 for some time.  I have set RRC-micro COM 1 to use virtual COM 2 and the Expert 1k-FA software seemed to like COM 2; but I have not been able to send or receive any data from the amplifier.  I have put a RS-232 monitor in the line between the amp and the RRC-1258 box and I never see any RXD or TXD activity.  I do see a green light blink on the RRC-Micro COM 1 every second or so which appears that the software is polling the amp for data.  I have tried using both CHAR by CHAR settings and User defined settings with a terminor of 0d ( this is what I use with the RRC-1258 to RRC-1258).

I see from the forum that some people have been using COM 1 for rotor control, so I must be doing something wrong.  Anyone have any ideas?

I guess you have exactly the same settings in the Radio-RRC and the same cables as when you use the box to box setup. Softwares like the one for 1k-FA is not written to be able to connect over internet so it's tricky. The virtual serial port which are now implemented in the RRC-micro software, now behaves as much as possible like a hardware serial port. That's why all other radio control software works, and if it doesn't work now with the 1k-FA, I'm sorry to say it but I don't think there is much hope, if they don't modify their software.

I think the best way to solve this would be if we could make a web based control like the one to the ACOM-2000 (RC-1216H).

Hello Mike.
Thank you for the prompt reply.  I think you are right.  It is a SPE software problem.  I tried to use the software using COM 2, which I know is working, and I got the same results as I had using COM 1.

If you can come up with a WEB based system for the SPE 1k-FA amp,  I will be happy to buy another RRC-1216H! HI

Today, I connected my GH RT-21 rotor controler to COM 1 of the RRC-1258 box and tried using YO3DMU's PstRotorAz on RRC-micro to control the RT-21.  It did not work.  I have never seen any RXD/TXD activity on COM 1 of the RRC-1258 box when using RRC-Micro.  On the RRC-Micro screen, I could see PstRotor polling for data on the COM 1 light.

When we stress tested the new version we connected 3 radios at the same time and used 3 different Radio controll softwares at the same time controlling all radios, so all serial ports works with the same capacity.

That is very interesting Mike.  This week, I am going to move my FT-2000 over to RRC-1258 COM 1 and then see if I can get the rotor software/RT-21 to work on COM 2.  I will see if I can get either the rotor or SPE amp to work on COM 0.  The GH RT-21 and the SPE amp only require TXD,RXD,and GND  in order to work. (I let the FT-2000 turn the SPE amp on/off).

New Subject.  You may recall that a few months ago the code in the RRC-1258 was modified to turn the FT-2000 on when RRC-Micro connected.  This was done to work around a bug in HRD.  With Version 1.5, all of the FT-2000 CAT software we now have available except HRD can turn the radio ON.  I vote to remove the software patch.  I have deleted HRD FOREVER!!!
