Cannot Reach Radio-RRC

Hello,

I cannot reach the Radio-RRC remotely by entering the DDNS address.  I have described below.

I recently purchased a pair of RRC-1258MkII’s.  I have performed the “Step by Step System Setup” successfully through Step 18.  However, Step 19 fails.  I cannot reach the Radio-RRC remotely.

Regarding my network on the Radio RRC side:

I have a DSL Modem with a public IP of “68.nnn.nnn.nn” 

The DSL modem presents “192.168.1.64” to my Netgear Router.

The LAN side of the Netgear Router starts with “10.0.0.1”

I have the Radio-RRC IP at “10.0.0.228”

I have the Radio-RRC defined as the Default DMZ Server in the Router.


What am I doing wrong?

Good Morning,

What seems to be happening is your DSL moden is doing NAT for you already. What you really want to do is call your DSL provider and ask them how to configure your DSL modem to be in "Bridge Mode". This will pass the public IP to your Netgear router. The other option is to see if you can log into your DSL modem and then configure the ports to be forwarded to your netgear router, but you are just adding another layer of complexity and you start jumping through hoops.

Just a guess: you probably left the radio RRC's configuration page at port 80. This would likely
conflict with your router and maybe another device in your network. Change your web port
and try it again, this time xxxxxxxx.ddns.remoterig.com:XXXX, where XXXX is the new port.

I also highly suggest that you change SIP from port 5060 to something else. This port is
blocked by many routers for VoIP use.

I am currently at the RRC-Radio site.  I did try the changing the web configuration port from 80 to 8080 since is was the quickest thing to try.  Works fine within the network using nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn:8080.  Externally, using someone else's network, I tried the DDNS with :8080 appended as suggested.  I still just get a hang (no response).  I am researching the other suggestions received so far.

Yep, makes perfect sense. Think of it as having two netgear routers "daisy chained" and the first one is not allowing your ports to be forwarded. Since you have your own Netgear device then just have the provider switch their device into bridge mode. Your goal is to make their device invisible to your Netgear router looking at the internet.

Actually, port 8080 was not a good decision....it is used by many routers for remote admin.

I understood you that the system was working ok, just that you couldn't reach the RRC's web
admin page. I read down enough to notice the double-NAT problem before that Lee mentioned.
Assuming the system is otherwise not working, then you do need to pass through the
other DHCP server as Lee mentions.

Quick update.  Putting the modem in Bridge mode and moving the PPoE to the router now allows me to reach the Radio-RRC web server which is sitting in the router DMZ.  I really appreciate everyone's help, and I will post a final update when I get back to the Contol-RRC location. I just noticed that I probably posted this message in the wrong section of the Forum.  My issue related to the RRC-1258MkII and not to the Webswitch.

Everything is working fine now.  I had a final issue of the Control RRC PWR LED continually blinking. 

I could login to the Control RRC from the LAN, but could not go any further with connecting to the Radio RRC.  I could, however, successfully connect the Control RRC to the internet by directly connecting the Control RRC to the DSL modem.  I eventually gave up and switched out my old D-Link router to a Netgear unit similar to the one at the Radio site.
