FT-857d CW not Keying

« on: 2012-03-23, 20:41:40 »

Hi,

The SSB mode works fine but no CW keying. The TX/BUSY  indicatator working good, the indicator glows red during transmit but no  output power in CW mode. I hear side tone in the FT-857d phones jack.

I guess you need to activate VOX in the radio, or setup the Radio-RRC to also activate PTT when CW-keying

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your help, but is not work.
I activeted the VOX in FT-857d  MFd menu, but when I use the CW mod the VOX not activ, only in SSB mod.
The setup in Radio-RRC is  activat PTT when CW-keying.

Hi
Hi

If you can hear the sidetone coming from the FT-857, and the TX-RX led is on, the problem is not a RRC problem it's a radio settings problem. And I am not so familiar with the FT-857 so I can't help you with that.

But to be sure, remove the speaker connection from the radio to the Radio-RRC so you are shure that the sidetone is coming from the radio and not from the Control-RRC.

If the sidetone is not coming from the FT-857, you can send  me "exported settings html" files from both units so I can check them.

Hi Mike,

I removed  the speaker  from the radio to the Radio-RRC, the sidetone is coming from the  Control-RRC. I can not hear the side ton on the radio part speaker. when I push the key on Control-RRC part.

I am sending you the  "exported settings html" files in attachment  from both units and I am waiting your opinion.

Also I send you the accessibility to my  radio unit:

The Radi-RRC alwais is online, maybe you vould like to tryto access the unit.

Jo have to decide which of the three outputs you will use for the keyer to key the radio. Normally with a standard 3.5 mm stereo cable OUT2 is used. I change OUT-2 to Keyer, for you to test.

Hi Mike,

I changed the Out2 swich in Control-RRC unit to Keyer, but it still not working.
In Radio-RRC also the Out2 is set to Keyer.
The led is red when I push the(3,5 mm jack) key.

you only need to set out-2 to Keyer in Radio-RRC. That's how it's done, if you still got not response from the radio you need to check the cable and the radio settings.

You can test to make short cut with the tip of the key cable to the chassi of the radio, then you should get pwr out from the radio, it's the same as the RRC does.

Hi Mike,

Thank you for replay.
I  set out-2 to Keyer in Radio-RRC, but when I open again the I/O setting the on/off status is not green.
I checked all cables and the key cable too (65cm long) and all control/ adio settings.

I use in Key-settings -Iambic-Mode-B key.

It does not work the CW mode.
The SSB is OK.
