Help with intial 703 setup
« on: 2010-06-26, 15:29:39 »
Hi all,

I am a new Remote Rig User. I am using a 703. I have made up the cable and tested it OK.  I am testing the setup on my LAN and have set the radio up as 192.168.228 and the control as 227. I can browse the radio and the control OK.

My issue is that the 703 wont switch on. The radio is set for 19200.

Do I need to set up port forwarding on the router if both the units are 'behind' the router? If not what should I check?

I want to get it working on my home network before I set it up at the remote shack.

Hi

If you can browse both units it's good. Check the parameters according to the instructions. Check that you have the SIP-contact IP Ok ( = IP number of Radio RRC). If it still don't work check the red jumper wires with an ohm meter so they are not broken.
I guess you have already tested the cables with the extender.

You do not need to setup anything in the routers as long as you have both units on the same network

Thanks Mike,

I had tested the cable with an RJ45 joiner. I will check the jumpers and the settings (again).

I had an issue with my 706 ... check your COM0 baud rate. I corrected that per/instructions and things work correctly.
