I have a 706 mkii integrated using the separation cable / RJ45 splice method. It works fine for 10 or 15 minutes. Then TX audio starts to get distorted, and eventually the rig powers itself off mid-QSO. This occurs on 2M FM, with RF output power set to about 1 watt. After turning the rig back on it works for another 10 or 15 minutes. I don't notice the problem on HF but I don't tend to have long rag chews on HF and most of my HF activity is CW. Radio and radio-side RRC box are running from a 35-amp Astron power supply in the radio room downstairs. Control-side RRC and 706 control head are on a 3-amp Radio Shack power supply next to the living room couch. Data link is via wi-fi.
Has anyone seen this on an IC706 or on any other rig for that matter?
