TS-480 No SSB Transmit
« on: 2011-09-13, 02:31:19 »
Hello all - I'm having a problem with my RRC-1258 and TS-480HX transmitting.  It powers up fine, I can control freq, band, etc.  Pressing the PF button on the TS-480 panel will put it in transmit, but using the stock Kenwood mike (or any mike with MJ-88 adapter) PTT will mute the receiver, but not key the transmitter.  This is our first attempt at trying to get this working.  I have tried both Configurations 1 & 2 for the Aux/Mic jumpers.  My TS-480HX is a 50XXXXXX serial number.  Any ideas ? Thanks & 73,

Hi
Typically a red jumper problem, First check the placement and then check them with an ohm meter.

Found the problem with the jumpers.  My brother, Harold W0HJW, noticed that the jumper socket in the radio unit had been soldered in backwards compared to the control unit with the notch in the socket being on the opposite end.  We lined up the jumpers like the other unit and it now keys up fine and works over the local LAN.  Now working on over the Internet...
