Problem keying an Acom 2000a amplifier from TS480
« on: 2012-05-27, 14:29:40 »
Hello everyone,

A strange problem. I am using a Ts480 and remoterig and it works perfectly. Yesterday I added the Acom 2000a amplifier and I tested it with the radio at the "antenna" location and it worked fine. When I tried to operate from the remote location the rig transmits ok but the Acom amplifier does not get keyed from the radio. Mikael agrees with me that if the radio keys then the relay should also key the amplifier, as it does when I am at the "antenna" end. Does anybody have any ideas?

Hi Andrew,

Did you enable keying of the amp in the TS-480 menu? Make sure that menu 28 is set correctly.

Thanks for the reply! Menu 28 is set correctly - otherwise it would not have worked at the "antenna" end.

Ok, glad you double-checked. I have had it turn off to 0 for no reason twice already, so it is now
what I always check first.

Otherwise, I have two installations where I have never had a problem keying the 2000a with the
TS-480, except for the sporadic menu 28 turn-off problem.
