Strange Noise on transmit
« on: 2012-12-27, 03:59:28 »
So my Remote Rig has been in service for a couple of years. Works well.

But is has developed a bizarre noise, not hum, on transmit. At first I was thinking that maybe it was feeding back into itself. The noise, kinda like a digital feedback loop, drive the transmitter to full power. My home audio is there inside it. I've power rebooted both ends. All rs-232 controls, ptt and W works. Just no clean audio on TX from home.

Anyone else see this?

Driving a Elecraft K3, it is not RF feedback. If I drop the power to 2 watts, it still does it, and it occurs on both antennas.

At home, a simple handheld microphone,. elecraft MH-2.

Hi Tom,

I seem to have the same problem with my RRC 1258 MkI, using IC-706 MkIIG. As you describe, it sounds like digital feedback, with a pulsated tone. People can hear what I say, but they all comment on the background noise.

Did you ever find out what was causing the strange noise?

Hi Adrian and others!

Did you found the problem?
I got the same problem. (I´m using the same power supply for IC-706 and RRC MK1)

Everything is grounded together as I using 2xRRC, one for IC-706 and one for IC-E2820 using the same power supply.
There´s only TX-noise when I´m using IC-706, no TX-noise when I´m using IC-E2820.

Thanks!

Try using different power supplies for nthe rig and RRC and see if that solves your problem.

Hi Mitch!

Thanks for reply.

I´m a little confused.
I have found posts on the forum that disagree about using seperated supplies and vice versa.

Thanks!
