best way to get more mic gain?

 Using icom 151, BA-1 software and RRC on my lan, no internet access.

everything works fine, but my signal reports are coming back weak audio. readable but weak. tried setting radio mic gain up, somewhat improved but not quite enough.

what might I try to get the gain improved?

The default settings for the mic levels is with good margin enough for ICOM. If you do not get leves high enough the check cables and the red straps.
