Display Screen on the Icom 706MKIIG

At times when I connect to my remote the display screen on the 706 will not light but at the same time all else seems to be normal. I would appreciate any ideas. Thnks in advance!

It sounds like it's a bad wire connection, first check the red straps (LTXD & LRXD), with an ohm meter , they can be broken inside (not visible). If they are OK it's probably a soldering in  the OPC 581 cable which is not OK.

Mike thanks for your reply.  I exchanged the OPC - 581 with another I have and the issue remains. I will check the red straps when I can get to the remote site next week.  The radio is working normally except for the display. I had a QSO with a station on the last frequency the radio was tuned to before the display problem. Thanks again ..
If anyone else has any ideas it will be appreciated.
