SunSDR2 PRO + RemoteRig
« on: 2016-06-30, 18:20:33 »
Hello,

I would like to connect my new SunSDR2 PRO radio (http://media.sunsdr.eu/2015/11/SunSDR2_PRO_-_RadCom.pdf) through RemoteRig, although I think it is possible I would like to ask for some help.
The radio emulate TS-480 CAT protocol and has 2 independent receivers.
The radio has on front panel connectors for Mic, Headphone and CW key.
I would like to use RemoteRig to transport Mic, Headphone and CW over internet.
The microphone is an electret "ModMic 4.0 Attachable Boom Microphone"
- Pattern: Uni-directional
- Sensitivity: -38 ± 3 dB
- Response: 100 Hz–10 kHz
- SNR: >50+ dB
- Impedance: 2.2 KΩ
- Operating Voltage: 1 to 10V
- Max current at 2.0V: 500 µA
- Max input SPL: 110 dB

How do I setup the RRC (jumpers) for this configuration?

SunSDR2 PRO has the posibillity to open two receivers on the same time.
I didn't use this feature until now but from the manual I understand that RRC-1258 MK2s will transfer both signals (Main/Sub Receiver) on RRC Control SP connector.

Thank you!
Dan

I've managed to find the cabling for ModMic, as per their support engineer:
Quote
- The tip and ring carry both signal and power.
- They're both shorted together
- The sleeve is ground
- there are only 2 wires to the mic, one is power & signal, one is ground
As the transceiver emulate TS-480, I think to configure RRC for TS-480 although I will not use TTL connector.
As per RRC manual I will need to enable JMP-1 on Control RRC to activate DC voltage on Pin7 of Aux/Mic connector

I will need an adapter from RRC AUX/Mic to Mic 3.5mm jack :
tip (signal input) -> 3 (Mic)
ring   -> 7 (pwr 8V)
sleeve -> 4 (Mic gng)

Is this connection OK for the specified electret microphone ?

Thank you!
Dan

Hi Dan ... Did you finally get it to work?
