New user 1216H help.
« on: 2016-09-25, 16:48:19 »
Hi
I am a new user and I am running a ts480 through my BT home internet along with a 1216h for my Prosistel rotator control.

I am trying to configure the 1216h so I can access the unit via the web remotely and I have generated the host name and username and then copied the own host name in to the web browser but it will not find the unit.

Any suggestions please ?

Thanks

Glenn

Glenn,

Did you forward the ports in the router?

If you need help, I have a networking checklist available. Just drop me a short mail at dj0qn (at) darc.de and I will send it to you.

I tried,

I changed the port in the 1216h software from 80 because it's being used.  When I change it I cannot gain access to the unit from its local IP address.

When changed back yo 80 all is okay.

Tried to port forward but clearly don't understand enough about it.

Thanks

Glenn

so can you access the 1216H on thew same network?
So if you change the port to say, 8076 then in the web broswer you put the ip address with the port
such as 192.168.0.200:8076

I am not sure what you are asking. You can have many devices in a single network, but you
must always change port 80 to something else and forward that port. You must also use the
:XXXX after the URL when accessing that port.

Another trick is to use the port forwarding function in some routers to leave it as port 80 inside
of the network, but something different outside. In that case leave will have two fields with a
from and to in the router. You put 80 to 80 in one and the other number in both spaces on the
second field. Using this method, you can access them internally using only the internal IP address
with the port suffix. From outside, do as in the last method and append the external IP address with
the port suffix.
