Make reasonable offer. I can't get it to work period. The experienced operators have tried to help me, but
no success. It works directly through the shack router, but not with the mobile router and Sierra 308.
So I have no other use for it.

Tom's problem is that he can't get the router to work with his AT&T stick. I have mentioned to him
that he needs to add the APN and perhaps other data into the router. Can someone in the U.S. that
has a 3G router working with AT&T please contact Tom and explain to him what to enter into his router?

Alternatively, please send me the AT&T information and I will walk Tom through the process. The information
over the AT&T web site is not clear.

My ZOOM 4506 router works 'out of the box' with no settings required. Not sure about the CTR500 router. However, here is some info I received from the local AT&T store that may be helpful:

Hi Tom,

Sorry to hear you're having a dickens of time getting a connection. No, I have the cheapest 2 year plan I could get...$50 a month. Nothing special that I am aware of, hi! AT&T Shockwave air card...Sierra Wireless 308...

Just for grins, I put in those login credentials from AT&T (before I had left the APN fields blank in the Zoom) and can't tell any difference. When I power up the Zoom router with the air card in it, it still takes about 2 minutes to connect. Long but at least it does connect every time...

Have you tried the USB air card in a laptop and verified that it does indeed connect to the cloud? I'd do this first. Who knows, maybe the first time it installs the firmware based application on the laptop and connects...it might be doing some kind of first time authentication and registering your device with AT&T??

I used my air card with my laptop first. It wasn't until later that I purchased a 3G router and tried the air card...

Hello John

Was on the phone for 1 hour today with zoom tech support and we tried about 5 or 6 combos of
APNs, Usernames, dial ups, passwords etc, but still could not get it to work with the
308 stick. In fact the 308 never locked on to the signal.

I also have a Cradlepoint CTR500 router and the 308 connects immediately, and I can
ping the IP address thru it, but can not connect to the radio.

Sounds like I need to get a Cradlepoint! My Zoom is a touchy beast even at its best but at least it does connect.

OK, if you are getting a solid connection to the internet with the Cradle Point and the 308 air card, now the problem must be centered around the RRC control box (or the remote box). Double check the control box and make sure it is set to connect using DHCP (but do not use DHCP on your remote RRC in the shack).

Did you set up an account with DynDNS.org? Can you access your remote RRC over the internet when you type in your DynDNS web address? Make sure you have your DynDNS address put into your remote RRC settings...

If you are using a Kenwood TS-480, make sure you have the correct rig chosen. And make sure your ports match up in both RRCs. BTW, I successfully use jitter buffer 7 and jitter delay 8, audio packet 20 using the AT&T 308 air card. Works great on SSB and CW both.

Tom, the devil is in the details, believe me. A triple check of everything won't be enough, trust me - hi! Keep at it, Mate...

After receiving the APN, password, info from John I bought another zoom and tried it. But evidently my local at&t server uses different info.  I called Zoom tech support and the technician gave me about 5 more sets of APNs, Dial ups, Passwords Etc for at&t but none of them worked.  I could access the internet via the laptop thru the zoom, but at&t must have the ports blocked.  As for the CTR500 router, it appears to assign an IP to the ATT stick, but it never connects to the internet.  Now I have a Sprint U250 and will try another router monday.
There is a tech named Vic at the 3Gstore who is working with me on this.  He has set up hundreds of remote cameras, alarms etc,  and will send another router that they have had
good luck with.  As for the Sprint U250, it has a static IP, and should work eventually.  What a mess, will be glad to see it work.

present status of set up is still not connecting.   
We exchanged the 250U Sprint because it would not acquire an IP.  The new one will.
Also exchanged the router for a cradlepoint MB95 which is known to work with a lot of
remote 3G aps.
I have bypassed my hawkings repeater by running 200 feet of CAT5 cable to shop.
Everything works thru the shop router, and DJ0QN can connect with my radio with his TS480
control head from Germany but my TS480 control head will not connect thru (the 3rd 3G Router). 
Now it looks like there must be a problem with the RRC Control box?? Even though it works
thru the shop router,  it does not connect via 3g.  Since I am not an IT guy,  someone
please tell me!  HI

Tom,

Send me the control RRC settings to look at. The only thing that comes quickly to mind
is that you don't have the radio-RRC's IP address/DynDNS address entered.
