Title: Remote without internet
Post by: WA8YEP on 2012-12-27, 20:14:00
Question #1    Recently purchased a IC-2820H and would like to separate contol head from main unit by about 400 feet, no need for internet.  Can the Remoterig units be connected directly between the ethernet jacks with cat 6 cable?
If not what is the best method without using the internet?

Question #2    Is Remoterig compatible with Alinco DR-235TMKlll in any way?

#1 Yes you can connect them together with a simple CAT5/6 cable.

Roy,

At that distance, you may wish to use something like the Nanostation to bridge the two RRC's. It is
often unwieldy to run an ethernet cable.

See: http://www.remoterig.com/forum/index.php?topic=1509.msg6356#msg6356
for some links.

Mitch,
Thanks for the info.   Actually I would prefer to run a hard wire Cat 6 cable rather than wireless  I just wanted to be certain this could be done without a switch in between or that none of the wires need to be transposed from a standard patch cable.
