Configuration, RRC 1258 / Codec inp gain issue
« on: 2013-12-05, 02:37:49 »
I am operating a pair of 1258 MKII units Version 5 with firmware 2.75

Company   Microbit
Product   1258
PID   4
Version   5
HW   6
Software   2.75
Bootloader   1.8
Compiler   4.6.2
Build   Oct 31 2013 16:36:10
ROM/RAM   450472/41872
ETH-RAM   2944 (max 3kB)
USB-RAM   15312 (max 16kB)
ResetSrc   0 [3]
Uptime   1 Days, 3 Hours, 24 Mins, 37 Secs
Serial number   3506

I am operating a Yaesu FT-100d with the head at the "control" end.

I am having a problem with the Codec Inp Gain of the radio unit.

The units are running on a transparent Wi-Fi link, so both are setup on the same LAN as 192.168.0.XXX

On the web page setup for the radio unit, I can decrease Codec Inp Gain, "submit", and "apply changes".  The unit re-starts and the audio from the radio is decreased appropriately.

However, if I wish to increase Codec Inp Gain, I click "submit", and "apply changes".  The unit re-starts, however, the audio levels are not changed.

I find that if I go to the remote site and remove and then restore power to the unit then the Codec Inp Gain increase will actually take effect.

This seems like a firmware issue to me.  I wonder if anyone can replicate this ?

Thanks, Steve-dog, k5dog

I have made the changes that I described above, and now the radio is working well.

Mike,

Yes, there is an error in the drawings.
On both FT-100 connectors Pin#4 should connect to TTL Pin#6 instead of Pin#1
Also on both units, Pin 1 of P5B (which is connected to TTL Pin#6) should have a jumper to "PWR SW" P5B Pin#9.

When those things are changed, the FT-100 seems to work very well.

Probably very few FT-100 users now, and of those, very few have the extender kit required.
I personally use several of these radios at remote locations, and I greatly appreciate your work on this radio.

Thanks again.

I am having a hard time understanding why the power on/off switch (FT-100 Front Panel and Radio  Pin#4)  connects to ground on both ends (TTL connector Pin#1)?  How can this cause the RRC's to connect?

Thanks

Robin,
Bruker du radioen med kontroll hodet skilt?
Eller bruker du HRD eller lignende med CAT?

Hardware, Cabling, Installations / FT-100 hardware mods?

From an old post:

Yes RRC1258MkII ver 7 can be used to remote the FT-100, but I have not had time to update the manual yet. It may take some time as Im on vacation now.

I have an RRC1258MkII Ver 5.  Can I use that with the FT-100 if I do the FT-857 hardware mods?

Tnx,

No problem, v7 can handle all rigs that v6 does.

I would like to use the RRC-mk2s to remote the front panel of my FT-100d.  Does the FT-857 capability apply to the Ft-100d as well?
