I was getting tired of removing my RR Control hardware and moving it to a second location when I had the "Brilliant" idea regarding buying a 2nd RR control unit.  I had anticipated that this would be a challenge unless I made sure the other RR Control unit is disconnected.  Can't help but wonder if there isn't a service that could act as a "Router" and somehow by controlling this online router, I could allow one or the other controller to have control by allowing a specific RR Control unit to access the RR DNS server.   Perhaps in my next lifetime. Thank you for answering.

Is there any way, using RR DNS or anything else, to have two or more 1258MKiis Control units and somehow dictating which control unit actually has control?

Do new versions of the 1258mkiis-con still need the 1258M adapter PCB when using a new IC-7100? If it is no longer required what is the starting serial number that can omit the 1258M?

Mitch,

Since it would seem that I am not getting the connectivity where the rig is perhaps your check list would help.  Please email network checklist.  Thank you.

I am having what seems to be a similar problem.  My RR does not connect (Port 80) and when I try to use RR DNS for a different port that is connected to my IP addressable power switch or another for the camera that doesn't work either.  This has all happened within the last two weeks as my transceiver was in for repair.  No system changes known and going to any computer anywhere home or otherwise has trouble reaching the camera port or power switch using RR DNS as I get a failure to connect. (Doe that mean that I didn't reach the RR DNS or does it mean that I simply can't connect to the device on that port?) Any suggestions on how to test this out? Perhaps my router is blocking this due to an unknown change? Any suggestions on how to test this out?

Thank you. Right now I only use a key (Vibrokeyer is a trade name and is hardware only) and PC keying occurs with logging software located at the radio which I control remotely using Teamviewer8. However, discretion being the better part of valor, I will change IN0 to keyer. 73. Chuck.

Problem solved. Thank you both for your help. The PTT activated by keyer helped with a problem I would have eventually had as the FTdx5000 delay has to be different for cw and phone. Now I have very good control of the cw transmit tail and leave the radio break-in feature off. Setting the tail to 150 ms worked for me but did not solve the missing dits.  Changing the keyer from Iambic A to Iambic B did solve the issue.  I use a Vibrokeyer key which is NOT Iambic.  I didn't think Iambic A or B would make a difference for a Vibrokeyer key but it sure did. With regard to I/O settings at the remote controller my IN0 mode is set to I/O not keyer as you suggested. I do not know if I should change IN0 to keyer as things are working correctly at this time.  What is the impact if I do not change it to keyer?

Then this means 1 of 2 things that I can think of. The first would be I do not know how to turn on the internal keyer function. The second is that the PTT tail, which I hear by the delayed receive audio, is not the cause of the missing dits.  The missing dits ARE real. So if what I am saying is impossible there would have to be another cause for the problem.  Recall that it is not always the final dit that is missing.

Thank you for reminding me that the icon I created at the radio end does not require the USB connection and is an Internet link to radio control. I set the tail delay to 999 and keyer activates PTT. No joy. Same issue. In sending a string of C's about every 3rd one misses the last dit. Occasionally it will not be the last dit that is missing. Internet upload speed at remote is 1 meg and download speed at radio is 50 meg.

Thank you for the great and logical suggestion. I went to the radio site and changed the tail from 0 to 30 milliseconds as a wild guess. I am at the remote site now and I note 2 things. The problem still exists but is less frequent.  I also note that after the last dit there is a definite detectable delay before the receiver audio can be heard. Tomorrow I will bump up the delay to 60 milliseconds to see if the problem persists. I suspect doing so will make the delay in receive audio unacceptable....but I'll try that out and see what happens with transmitting.  I have to wonder if letting the keying control PTT might be a better choice.

I use remote rig only for voice and CW. Rig control is done via another method. I am using firmware version 2.75. When I send CW some dits are missing.  The key has been replaced with the same result.  The Letter "C" is a good test. Usually the last dit is missing. It seems that 15-35 WPM it happens almost always and faster WPM seems to not happen at all. The problem exists whether I am set to 6 watts or 1500.  Can anyone point me in the correct direction?

I have a set of RRC-1258MKIIs units with firmware 2.61 installed.  I have the control and radio units talking to each other through the internet using remoterig DNS. I have a paddle connected directly into the control unit and it will key the transmitter.  I do not have ANYTHING other than the two RRC's and my rig.  No duplicate radio, no removable faceplate. Just a computer on the LAN to check how things are going.  I have NO control features hooked up at this time.  I just want to check audio and CW communications. One of my station criteria was to impact non-remote operation of the station as little as possible and to require as little as possible of the local operator when local operation ends.  That being considered, what is the best source for audio FROM my FTdx-5000? There is a jack in the back "AF Out". The output is independant of the volume controls but the volume is too low.  I can use the headphone jack in the front but that requires that the volume controls for the dual receivers be left at the 12 o' clock position....something that can easily be overlooked.  At the control end I planned on just having a speaker plugged in to the RRC but there would be no volume control.  Headsets also produce low audio as well unless I use the front headset jacks on the 5000 but again no volume control.  What do you suggest for this simple configuration? Some impedance information may be of help.

Thanks.

Chuck
