RT Systems USB-63 RS-232 conversion cable solved the problem using Kenwood's ARCP (CAT) program and connecting to a TS_2000.  With the addition of a MALE/MALE gender changer it works with the REMOTERIG unit.

Problem seems to be USB to serial conversion when using Kenwoods ARCP program.  HRD and TXRmanager work ok but when using Kenwood ARCP I am unable to get a connection.  When using standard RS232 port the ARCP program works.

I have tried a couple of USB serial converters and a 54/express serial converter so far without success. I will post if I find one that works.

For those interested here is my setup for Kenwood TS-2000 and remote control using a PC with standard RS232 serial port:

RemoteRig setup using General Kenwood Configuration

Cable from radio to remote rig 2-2 3-3 5-5  7 strapped to 8  Radio side
Cable from PC to remote rig straight thru all connections.
Using a ts-2000  port speed set for 57600
Program Mode 4

Thanks Mike for being so responsive to my inquires.

High Mike, I am just getting back to working on this.  I misspoke when I said control to the radio was working.  I am still unable to control the radio remotely.  I am able to pass voice remotely.  I have checked all cables they match up to what was described in previous email.

would it be possible for you to send me exact config.  I must be missing something.

Setup:

ts-2000, Not using RC-2000.  Trying to control using Kenwood CAT program.

Thanks

Mike thank you for your help. Control to the radio is now working :)

Do you know if anyone has had success using USB/DB9 conversion?  My laptop only has USB ports.  I know not all converters are made equal if you know of one that works could you please send the name of the manufactuer?

Thanks again for your help and quick reply to previous problems.

Thanks Mike.  I made the cable as mentioned but still no success.  Just so that I am clear:

1. I have a kenwood TS-2000
2. I DO NOT have an RC2000 (not enough money)
3. Need to use PC to control the TS-2000

I am able to talk and listen through the remoterig units but am not able to control the rig.  To eliminate confusion on my part could you again advise of DB9 connections:

1. RRC to TS-2000
2. RRC to PC

Thanks again and sorry for the repeated question

I want to build a cable to connect the remoterig to kenwood 2000 CAT connector.  Should I use a null cable 2-3, 5-5, 7-8  or the cable that is show in the priter friendly drawing which seems to be a straight thru with a jumber on 7-8 at radio end?

Thank you
