General discussion forum / SIP contact box
« on: 2017-01-22, 21:18:29 »
I use my FTM-350 control head (via RRC-1285 on my own LAN)  to control the FTM-350 body as mountain top remote base on the same LAN segment. To do so I use the IP address in the SIP contact box. I also use the control head in my ONSTAR WiFi equipped vehicle using the "Own host name" in the SIP contact box for DDNS access. Each time I move between home and vehicle I have to log into the remote rig setup and change the SIP contact box which is quite cumbersome. Is there and way around this or any plans to add a toggle switch to select between SIP info?

Thanks.

General discussion forum / Remote end becomes inaccessable
« on: 2016-09-25, 18:47:33 »
Has anyone experienced the remote end of RRC-1258 MkII becoming inaccessible via Web browser or SSH?  I have both units on the same IP 192.168.1.xxx segment. They work fine for about a month or so and then, with out apparent cause they disconnect. Then I can no longer access the remote end by Web or SSH but, I can always access the local unit.

To regain access I have to go to the remote site and reboot the RRC-1285. I then change only the command port value and its good to go for another month.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

General discussion forum / FTM-350 Randomly Disconnecting
« on: 2014-01-26, 22:14:46 »
Has anyone come up with a "work around" for the FTM-350 randomly (& frequently) disconnecting. It was suggested that it is the speed of reply between the radio and remote due to slow and variable internet response. However, I  have connected both the remote and radio into adjacent plugs on my Ethernet switch and it still disconnects frequently.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello Mike,

Since the forum private email didn't work last time, please send your regular email address to my regular email: kc6wrd@arrl.net and I will email you back about the ftm-350ar loaner.

Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up on the service manual.

After receiving Mike's reply requesting the loan of a FTM 350ar and service manual to develope the interface, I sent him a private email offering both. He never replied so I assume he was not really interested.

When are you going to make the RRC 1258 support remoting the display of the ftm-350ar?

Are there any Vhf/uhf radios (with a removable display) supported by the RRC in the configuration with the display at one location and the radio is at another? I can only find the TS-2000 mentioned and I don't want HF with the vhf/uhf.

General discussion forum / Anyone used the Transparent mode?
« on: 2010-05-15, 18:55:14 »
Has anyone successfully gotten the two RRC boxes to link when in the transparent mode?

If so would you share how you are using it?

Thanks.

General discussion forum / Transparent Mode Connection
« on: 2010-05-07, 04:21:10 »
When I set both ends of my 1258 link to mode 0 (Transparent) they will not connect. If I keep them both set to mode 4 (kenwood .....etc.) they connect and pass audio just fine. The only reference I've found in the documentation is that it for repeaters????

Can anyone direct me to or share the proper hardware configuration and settings to get the Transparent mode to work?

Thanks.

I have set up my 1258 pair for remoting my Kenwood TH-742. I use 220 Mhz and The
TH-x42 & x41 radios are the only ones made that both do 220 Mhz and use a Detachable Displays.
The audio set up works well but, I cannot get the display to remote.

I used the 1258's TTL ports and when I press the display's power on button it lights up but the display is blank. I've tried every combination of settings I could find -- no joy. Looking at the schematics for the TH-x42 it appears that is uses no protocol at all. In other words the 1258s need to be transparent. So that when the Display (control head) CPU raises or lowers it's ouput line to the local 1258 control end of the link, the remote 1258 radio end 1258 needs to raise or lower its output line to the 742 radio. Data transfered the other direction, works the same way. The circuit description says the data rate is 31250 bps.

Will the 1258s operate as described above? If not how about adding that mode?
