Hello,

About 10 years ago I modified a Baofeng speaker/mic for use with Remoterig and served me well. But because it was a cheap speaker/mic, it has finally fallen apart.

I found this speaker mic made by Retevis model HK002 for Kenwood that works very well, has good audio, and I sound ok. Use in RRC radio settings, Codec inp gain 5 and Codec inp preamp to "Yes".

Attached is the mod I did. Speaker/Mic found on Amazon (Retevis HK002) , and important is to use hot glue to secure crimp, as the cable is thin and can be a bit loose in RJ45 connector.

Use Kenwood wiring for TS-2000, and additional jumper as indicated in image to pass speaker audio to pin 7.

I purchased it 3 years ago from a friend. And yes it's probably the "old" one.  ;)

Hello,

I have been trying to find out how the Yaesu FTM-400DR panel connects to the the radio body, but I have been unable to find any details. Is this radio possible to connect via Remoterig? It may be similar to the FTM-350 if Yaesu has followed development of the Remoterig.

Thanks!

So the reset in the back will not erase configuration or reset back to defaults? If that's the case then that's what I needed to know.

Thanks.

Hello,

I would like to install a restart button on the back of both my Remoterig controls. I can wire it to the power input so power is temporarily disrupted to restart RRC Control when button is pressed. Is there a "soft restart" point on the board I can use to do this? The RRC already has a "hard reset", but a "soft restart" would do nothing more than a reboot, similar to when any setting is changed and restarted.

Thanks.

Thanks. The ez-rotor-control only uses 3 pins (tx, rx, ground).

Followup. I rewired the rs232 connector by reversing pin 2 and 3, but still did not work. Since I have many years of love/hate relationship with RS232 devices, I knew it was something with my setup.

I tested with a null modem cable I have with COM2 and it worked, so it wasn't the wiring. After dozens of restarts changing values and retesting, I decided to not use USB connection and test with another RS232 cable (Prolific) connected directly to COM1 on control unit. And it finally worked, so the issue had to be the RRC1258 drivers. I uninstalled them (ver 1.13) and reinstalled using ver. 1.17. The ports were reconfigured differently, but that's ok. With new drivers, I tested and it finally worked!

So 2 problems. One was wiring of COM1, and second, a reinstall of drivers. And now I can continue with wiring to my rotator.

All,

Thank you all for an excellent response. I never realized COM1 was wired for DCE. All this time I assume it was wired just like COM2 and never gave it a second thought. I will rewire the cable and test again tomorrow (it's late), as I do need to use COM1 as COM2 is already occupied with my TS2000.

Thank you all again!!! ;)

Hello,

I just assembled an easy-rotor-control. I tested it locally on a PC and the service tool sees it and runs test successfully. When I try it via Remoterig locally at home, the service tool does not see it on COM1. It works only on COM2.

I am using serial ports via USB which I have used successfully to control radios using various CAT programs. I was able to make it work with:

Mode-5 - user-def-terminator
COM2 baudrate             4800
COM2 data bits              8
COM2 stop bits              1
COM2 parity              0-off
COM2 terminator (hex)   0d

I have tried using COM1 and does not work.   What is different in COM1 to not work, when COM2 works fine?

Thanks.

Blown fuse? Happened to a friend with a TS-480.

For controlling AC power receptacles remotely, I use Digital loggers webswitch:

I can turn everything off remotely (except router of course).

Hello,
It is possible to use Signalink, and wiring is straightforward, but I prefer to use a Rigblaster because I can use the in-line mic to speak after a transmission, as like in SSTV. Rigblaster requires a soundcard and serial cable for PTT, where Signalink (USB) is all integrated with sound/Vox PTT.

Personally, I decided against sending audio down the Remoterig due to latency. When I lived in an apartment close to my house, it was no issue as latency had no effect. But in Puerto Rico, it is a bit of a problem, so I decided to place the Signalink connected directly to the remote radio, and I use Teamviewer and a local computer in the remote station to work digital modes. Works great for me, no latency, perfect audio and lots of fun.

In December, a friend will be installing a Signalink at his remoterig station in Ponce , Puerto Rico to do similar setup as mine.
A picture of my setup can be seen here (Signalink is hidden from view) -

In this post, I use a Rigblaster to work SSTV via Remoterig. This was when I lived only 6 miles away from my setup in Florida:

Hello,

You will never get a response, because rarely does anyone cut a stock cable and know what color is what unless they own the same exact cable.

If in doubt, get a friend to do this for you.
