I got it working via the Web.
See the UPdate info in the original post.
I just could not get the firmware to upgrade via the method in the manual.

I could not see the black box, with LAN cable plugged in Computer and
bringing up IP address .228 via browser.
Failed consistently, tried another computer, same thing, write failed.

The firmware upgrade does not work via USB.

The firmware upgrade via the Internet does work and I managed to
get it going again.

I tried to list everything in the post.

I hope my "every 25 second lock up" for 2 seconds is fixed with new firmware.

I have other streaming devices at the radio location that may be interfering
causing the lock up, dead air, twice a minute for 2 seconds but when I hook
up both units "in house" there is no lock up.
Will see if the new firmware fixes the twice, for 2 seconds, each minute lock up.

Thanks for the offer to help. Just wasted a lot of time trying to get the
firmware USB upgrade to work. It does not work with write fail and the
progress meter hangs up at one inch to 3 inches, and then fails regardless
of what I do.

I enjoyed this remote rig set up for about 2 months.
However, I could not operate CW and there was a "two second lockup" every 25 seconds. I figured the problem was caused by a device conflict at the radio location.
So, decided to upgrade the firmware.

Big mistake, now the unit is dead.

Ever since I received the units, I had problems trying to upgrade the firmware using Microbit USB set up.
Right out of the box:
Down loaded recent firmware and the firmware in this post.
RRC connected
Update the file I downloaded.
Clicked update
Transferring firmware
Progress meter moves about half an inch (sometimes moves 3 inches)
Failed programming new firmware
Write failed
RRC disconnected
RRC connected

Firmware not upgraded

I then tried to bring up Ctl unit using browser typing in 192.68.0.227

Browser could not find the CRL rrc.

So, I went back to the Set up manager,
It appears the firmware is corrupted.
I can display the firmware -
000.000.002.030 Bootloader is N/A Hardware version is 6

I tried another computer, still the same failure.

Since day one of trying to learn the remote rigs,
I have the upgrade firmware problem via USB , I got lucky I guess and got
some of the firmware downloaded to get it working
but today, since trying to upgrade the firmware, the CTL unit is dead.

Cannot see the Ctl unit via browser
Cannot upgrade firmware via USB
Tried the suggestions in this post

Update:

Finally got tired of trying to get firmware loaded via USB.

Read in post"upgraded Firmware via the Web"

No reference on how to do that in book,

So I hooked up the two black boxes and accessed each via the net.
I connected each box directly to the LAN.

First the Control black box .227 connected to the LAN

Browser found the .227 box Microbit Program in the .227 box

So, like most point and click, just started clicking on the Setup manager and came across the
words "Application Upgrade"

Clicked on the link and looked up the downloaded firmware I tried to use via USB and upgraded successfully.

Then the Radio black box .228 connected to the LAN

Browser found the .228 box Microbit program in the .228 box

Clicked on "Application upgrade" and the firmware I loaded on the.227 box loaded successfully on the .228 box

Both boxes now have the latest same level firmware.

So, my experience is that the USB firmware upgrade is broken, if it fails, do the firmware upgrade via Web.

I changed the radio setting menu in the .227 box, SIP contact to the .228 IP from the remote IP address
because I am in the radio's location hooked up locally via the house network two feet apart from each other.

When I go to the motel, I will change the SIP contact back to the IP address of where the remote radio unit from .228 to
the IP address of the radio's LAN network.
I should be able to connect from the motel to the body of the TS480s again.

Hope this helps someone. Sure wasted a lot of time trying to get the Firmware upgrade via USB to work, waste of time.
Thank goodness for the Internet way of upgrading the firmware. Hope this fixes my 2 second delay every 25 seconds.

Gads, am I ever going to get this?
I figured out that I can not hook the RRC up directly to the LAN port on Laptop.
So, I hooked up wireless LAN and then I was able to see the Control RRC.

I was able to see the remote RRC and the control RRC.

I connected to the remote RRC, it connected.
I turned off the TS480.

I decided to reload 30 firmware with the TS480 turned off. It failed.

I turned the TS480 head power on, it connected but no audio.

I did the update 30 firmware with the TS480 powered up, it worked and completed.
I then powered up the TS480S but no audio and no key(have RRC keyer enabled)
So decided to do a reset of control RRC, the key came to life in the internal RRC . I then powered up the head and it connected and everything is working fine.

It is apparent, something is corrupt in the LAN connection to the RRC. I tried to refresh the firmware with both 30 and 32, and it failed to load.
However, it appears to retain 30, the old level but still fails to load either refreshing 30 or going to the latest level 32.
Something happened to the firmware in the RRC preventing me from refreshing or loading firmware. I tried the reset switch and it appears to do a hard boot.
But still the same.
Even though the Microbit ip address is .227 per the Microbit  set up, when updating the firmware, it fails to write the firmware via USB.
In addtion, the browser cannot access the RRC via the LAN connection with .227
as I cannot update the firmware via USB.

So, it appears to me that I have corrupted firmware, that unless I can update the firmware successfully, the RRC is not capable of connecting to the browser via the LAN cable direct hook up.

So how can I get to the Microbit status window without the browser?

When I do microbit set up via USB, the IP address of the control unit is as expected.
However, when I do the cmd:ipconfig, an IP address of the Control unit is something different.
I tried to download the firmware and it failed to write. .30 is the version.
It is as if something is corrupted in the control firmware that is preventing me to communicate via LAN even though the IP address via USB is fine.
Cannot bring up the status etc, is there another way to configure the ctl, rather than using the LAN connection?
The LAN connection appears to be unoperational.

Not sure why the microbit setup has one IP address and the cmd:IPconfig has a different address.

Any ideas, especially on how to reload the firmware without a failure to write.

When I say, the WNCE2001 has to be configured, it has to "Connect to the WIFI where you are physically located". You attach the WNCE2001 with the RJ45 cable to the Lap Top LAN port, open the explorer browser and the WNCE2001 menu comes up, searches for nearby WIFI and allows you to configure, simply, to be able to connect to the WIFI the WNCE2001 detected. If it is an Open WIFI, the WNCE2001 will detect that and if not, then it is restricted and requires the WEP password. In two minutes, the WNCE2001 is enabled to connect to the WIFI. Turn off the Lap Top, and connect the WNCE2001 RJ45 cable to the Control RRC and hit power on the TS480.
Talk away like being connected with a LAN cable. I see no loss of signal on the WIFI connection I have attached to.

Now that I have the TS480 working, I went one step further. How to get rid of the LAN cable requirement. How can I go wireless?
Thanks to Netgear and their WNCE2001 wireless black box, I now can take my remote head of the TS480, the RRC control black box and have lunch at McDonalds or a Truckstop with an open WIFI and run remote.
The WNCE2001 costs about $60, and needs to be configured with a Lap top but once configured, the WNCE2001 allows WIFI link to the internet to my Remote part of the TS480 is located(where the antenna is). WOW
So, I can eat my Big Mac and Fries and check in with the boys on the local net. Or just go to the take out, sit in my car and check in as long as the WNCE2001 sees a WIFI wireless.
The WNCE2001 can be powered by USB if I want to plug it into my Lap Top, the 12 volts of my pickup would power the RRC.
The power supply of the WNCE2001 is 5Volts and probably draws less than 300 ma so my next step to be portable is to get a small lead or Gel 12 volt battery, use a dropping resistor (need to know the WNCE2001 current draw so I can determine the value of the resistor to drop the voltage from 12 volts to 5 volts) and then, I will be able to take my TS480 head, control RRC, Mic, Key, Netgear WNCE2001, and battery to a booth at McDonalds and wirelessly and NO AC required check into my nets while dipping my french fries in Ketchup. WOW ;D

I had a similar problem. The stream went "off" no sound every 25 seconds for a 2 second period. I looked at the Internet and DSL light on the QWEST modem and it was brighter during the 2 second period so it appeared there was polling coming down the internet to the modem/router.
I checked my speed of the broadband and it was down to one fifth the rated speed I was paying for. I called the ISP provider, QWEST, they reset the port on my server and the speed came up to normal, increasing 500 per cent and the steam became continuous, and no more "off" times of the TS480 stream from the remote.
So, check the speed of the internet at the control end and probably the remote end. In this case, the slow speed was at the control end.

OK, well it works and I will try to remove it to see if it makes no difference.

When I first connected the internet, remote, the streaming of data would drop out, seemed timed every 25 seconds, dead for 2 seconds, then work for another 25 seconds. I talked to the ISP tech and told me to watch the lites on the Modem/router, a QWEST modem, and when the streaming would stop, the lights would blink more solid so it was some inquiry from the internet that was taking the bandwidth.
We checked the speed of the broadband DSL and the speed was a fifth of what I am paying for. They reset the speed, it came back and the dead time went away an d now the steam is going through without interuption.
I tried CW using the internal key and really screwed me up so I will be enabling the keyer in the RRC but I have to change the CW key connector on the remote unit of the ts480S to key.
Thanks for the help, really a neat product but like everything neat, there is a learning curve.

Here is short summary.
Did the jumpers, made sure the two RRC's worked in my "Home Lan" - dumb me, thought I was done.

Here is all we did to get KF0LF to connect from Arizona via Internet.

Typed in my "what is my IP address" and got the string of characters of the IP Address of my remote(where the antenna is). Displayed this on my Laptop at the Antenna location and where the radio RRC and transmitter is located.

Kf0LF changed his control RRC at the remote TS480 control head location in the radio setting menu of the Control RRC as follows:

1)Typed Hello in Sip password field in radio settings menu of both RRC's, radio(antenna)  and control (TS480 head). Can change to any name besides Hello.

2) Typed in The "What is my IP address" IP string that came back to my laptop at the radio (antenna location) along with a Colon 80... :80 in the SIP Contact entry in radio settings menu of the Control (TS480 head). ie 76.197.280.302:80 (made this string up).

3) Changed the Port Forwarding setting to match the book 5060,11000, 12000, 80 and matched UDP and TCP to the appropriate entry in the manual in my router at the(antenna location). The Colon 80 is the TCP entry of 80.

That's all folks
KF0LF hit the power up button on the TS480 from his location and it came to life.
I hooked the control RRC at remote location and it works. It has a "dead audio" intermittent but probably something to do with internet, will figure out later but this "getting on the internet" procedure worked for me. The Router settings were fairly simple. I recognize that there are a lot of different parameters and it was confusing trying to link the manual instructions to what I needed to do, where in actuallity, I just needed to  change the Port forwarding and since ithe router is not like those listed in the manual, that is all I did to get it working.
Have not done the DynDNS thing yet.
I am sure I will find some bug later but right now, the rig came up when I powered on the TS480S at my away from the antenna location.
