Ok - problem is solved!
The cable was definitly a problem - audio is now on the speaker. The dull sound was an other point: IF-Shift was activated. I suppose I activated it unseen. Now all is ok - the sound in normal and remote operating is the same and sounds good!
Thanks for your help.

I had the same thing. It sounded as if you were listening to a station with strong flutter/aurora-like audio.
Never found what the problem was, but it got solved when I performed a full reset of the radio.
Did you try that?

Was this strange sound in normal operating or remote?

I had a look on youtube. In the videos I saw there was a clean and good audio. I'll check my cables.

Hi
The radio is ok. I normaly use it as a "normal" station - without any problems. The filters are since beginning installed. Another point: I have no audio in the speaker of the control unit. I plug the headphone in the RRC.... is this normal? Maybe the cable between control unit and RRC is not ok. I use the original cable on the rempte side.

General discussion forum / TS-480 - dull (unclear) rx audio
« on: 2014-01-27, 18:58:54 »
Hi
I have the RRC-1258MKII since about 1 year. I didn't use it because I had no remote place. Now I will have the possibility to test it for a limited time. I made yesterday the setup at my home qth (both rrc's connected to the same router). I updated the firmware and made the configuration according the manual. The system is running but...  the rx sounded very dull - not very clear. I changed the audio quality from 2 to 8 and 9. There was only a little improvement - it was not really good. I have no compare to decide how audio should be (with remoterig). There was a second point: I have the 500Hz and 270Hz cw filters installed. When I lower the bandwith the audio goes down. With about 300Hz bandwith I have no audio. When I lower the sidetone frequency I get audio - is this normal?
Thank you for your help.

Hi
I try to use on the radio side a wnce2001 (wlan is a smartphone with hotspot-function). With point 18 of the "Step by step system setup" in the user manual (page 12) I have a lot of questions......  ???
 - DMZ and port forwarding: can't find in the setup menue of the wnce2001
 - are this configuration in the wnce2001 or in the main wlansystem (smartphone)? When in the smartphon: where I have to configure it (it's a android)??
 - Is this setup at all usable?

Thanks for answering

ok, it failed....
btw: all this setting must be don in the router (I have a netgear pr614v3) and not in the modem - correct?
I changed the sip port from 5060 to 5065: no success
DMZ (wan setup): default dmz server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx here I set the ip of the rrc: no success
What means in point 18 of side 9 of the manual: "We recommend that you first of enable the remote configuring of your router, you may need it later. After that’s done configure DMZ or port forwarding"? Is this the remote management of the router? I think no....
Dynamic dns settings in the router: This is at the radio side necessary - correct? In the modem are the same settings. Configure yes or no?

Hi Guy
What means DMZ?
I'll try to change the SIP port.

Hi Guy
Thanks for the replay. I'm beginner in remoting and not experienced in the setup procedure.... The ip I got from dyndns.com was 89.217.229.72 - correct? The radio side knows this ip (external ip) but don't know the control's ip (other party 0.0.0.0) - correct? I'm sure the ip of the control side was correct. What do you mean "the port is not forewarded to the correct ip"?

Hi
I have a TS-480 and the system works in my local network. The test over internet failed. I can't start up the radio. On the radio side I made the port configuration.
On the control side I get a SIP status error (see pics). Any idea?

Hello
Must be done this configuraion (port forewarding) in the modem, router or for both units?
In the router I can make a configurtaion for Dynamic DNS. I have no fix ip-adress and have an account at www.dyndns.com. Is this configuration at router level necessary or not?
