Optimizing for jitter and packet loss on 4G/LTE

Don,

This is my 3G/4G checklist which may help you:

3G Checklist
------------------
Try reducing your bandwidth to a minimum and changing some parameters to compensate
for a poor line. Here are some tips:

1) These are important:
- audio quality to 0 (half the bandwidth of codec 2 and more than adequate for SSB & CW)
- turn continuous RTP on or set RTP to continuous (depending upon firmware version)
not working with N1MM, double Sidetone if set to Continous.
- If using the K3 Twin or Yaesu with a second receiver, then turn off "audio dual-rx" on the
radio RRC under the radio settings. This doubles the necessary bandwidth if on.

2) Play around with these 3 until you are satisfied:
- increase rx jitter buffer to min 12+
- increase rx jitter delay to min 10+
- audio packet size 20 or 40

3) Also, make sure that serial ports COM1 and COM2 are turned off if not used,
or that either being used is set to the minimum bps necessary to handle the serial
communication. For example, use 4800 for CAT on a rig like the TS-480 and not
a high speed like 57600, since the higher speed is completely unnecessary.

Mitch DJ0QN

UNQUOTE

I hope this helps you.
Audio Quality 0 is acceptable for me for HF SSB & CW. I don't need FM sound quality.
I am using Remoterig with a Netgear Nighthawk M5 mobile Router over 4G with an IP visible from outside and port forwarding.
The DDNS server at Remoterig works very well and is much more reliable than dyndns.org.
If I want to move to Zerotier VPN I will probably exchange my router for a Teltonika RUTX14. It has a ZeroTier client embedded.
A GSM base station is near the radio site. Becuse of an insufficient amount of channels I downgraded from 5G to 4G on the advice of a technician of the phone company.

i don't know what you mean by
"My rs232 of the ts2000 is occupied by CCR in the tower."

if you mean that you allready have connected the Radio-RRC to the Radio-CAT port all is OK

The AS-1289 talks to the Radio via the CAT cable, the RRC does not know anything about the radio, it only transfer data

but if you already us com 2 for controlling the radio all is OK as the AS-1289 can share the connection with the control software.

So if you set Radio-RRC settings with the correct ip nummer (radio-RRC) and correct port(13010)  and serial setting to 9600 it should work and on the main page you should see the "Current frequency" following the radio

Thanks for the quick response.
I don't understand either.
My rs232 of the ts2000 is occupied by CCR in the tower.
Control at home, not used with 2.
I use USB for both the transmitter and the rotor, and it works.
I also use rc2000 and it's always perfect.
I understood remoterig via ip tells the switch where to go.
Isn't that so?
Excuse my ignorance. Google translations are not very good.

Photo my control in house. Is a Antenna Switch 1269

Kenwood (IF) is what you normally use if you want the AS-1289 to ask for the frequency from the radio.
remeber that you need to have a CAT cable from the Radio-RRC com2 to the Radio CAT port
com 2 should be set to mode 4 and that all three set to the same baudrate

Hello everyone. I am installing 1216 via IP.  I can click with relays and everything is perfect.
But I can't get it to change automatically.
The question is......what does this mean about Kenwood?
Which one should I choose if I have ts2000?
I have tried all the combinations and it is not possible for me.
My Control says switch off or not connected.
I have matched ports on remote antenna and ccr control.
In control you only have to match the port with the same one on the switch and nothing else. What did I forget?
It took hours but I don't see the error. Thank you.

Configuration, RRC 1258 / Re: Settings for Winkey use only?
« Last post by sm2o on 2024-09-01, 18:47:28 »
Hi

compared to the bandwidth that the 6600 needs the Remoterig audio is negligible, so you can use audio quality 2 , no data is sent so it's only the audio which needs bandwidth

General discussion forum / 1216H - Acom script failing
« Last post by va7dx on 2024-08-22, 02:36:23 »
I.ve been using the 1216H - Acom 2000 for a few years with relatively few problems. A few days ago the webpage did not properly format making it impossible to control the amp.
Searching the forum and subsequent testing point to the appropriate script:
www.remoterig.com/1216H/Acom  not being found.

How do I recover from this?
Is there any way to get the script and host it locally in my environment?

Its extremely irritating not to be able to use my amp as I operate remotely 90% of the time.

I've attached Jpegs of the issue.

Thanks… and for looking back to 2015!  that long ago.

I will experiment when next back at the remote location that has starlink

To get past fibre, 4g 5g and Starlink’ CGNAT, instead of  paying for a fixed IPv4 I use reverse tunnels. IPV6 rollout allows direct connection with pinholes so my use of reverse tunnels is reducing. iPv6 to IPv4 I use SOCAT. All these solutions need a raspberry Pi which in someways defeats the object of RRC 1258, but I find RRC but better that any software to control the radio

Starlink has IPV6, and as yet
