Heil HC-6/TS 480
« on: 2012-02-15, 08:00:59 »
I purchased a Heil HC-6 Pro elite headset instead of the stock microphone to use with the TS 480.  The Heil adapter for Kenwood fits into the 1258 but for some reason it doesn't transmit  effectively.  I've been playing with the mic gain settings/vox to no avail.  Has anybody experienced the same problem.  What am i missing?  Thanks in advance.

Tariq,

Could you please clarify what you mean by "doesn't transmit effectively"? Is this an audio
quaility or PTT problem?

Thanks Mitch for replying so quickly. It's a PTT problem. If I whistle loudly into the microphone, there is a short lag and there is a brief  transmission. If I speak in a normal voice, there is no transmission.

Hi Tariq,

The Heil mics I have all used have the PTT separate. The Kenwood adapter has
a "pigtail", for which you must connect to a foot or hand switch to make it work.

For VOX operation, you must turn "Continuous RTP" on both RRC's to make it work.

BINGO! continuous RTP did the trick.

If only life were this simple.

Thanks
