I have a working RRC setup with my IC-7000.
Now I would like to start playing with digital modes like PSK.
Now I could make up a RJ45 for the computer but this makes two problems:
1)you need to keep switching the mic and computer connectors
and
2)possible distortion converting digital to analog and back to digital.
Is there any other way to connect audio to the control box?Is the USB port serial only? Can I have a third-party conversation with the SIP connection?

Do you have sound card interface sitting around? That would solve the possible distortion problem
you are talking about. All users I know that do the digital modes using RRC's do it that way.

You must use the AUX/MIC jack for audio.

Yes for example a Signalink USB interface use to work very well in most cases. There is no way to make a direct digital connection to the system. Use audioquality 2 or better when doing PSK etc.

@Mitch: My question was less about the computer end but about getting a good digital interface going from the computer. For example it would have been nice if I could pass audio via those (unused) USB ports.
I guess now I will work at hacking the SIP connection. and see if I can connect the computer audio to the radio box.
I *really* do not want to switch connectors over and over.

Hi!
I have been using rrc-micro for digimode on my remote Ts-480. I use virtual audio cables (VAC) in my laptop for audio. This is working very nice, except for the ptt-function, I have to push the button for transmit. I think there will be a solution for that in rrc-micro 1.11.0 ?

I thought I had answered your question, because some people assume that there is access to digital audio
through a USB sound card. Unfortunately, there is no such thing built-in to the RRC, so you have to use the
AUX/MIC jack. If you can hack the SIP steam, you will be a hero.

One idea: try to get a hold of version A of the 1274 RRC Micro PC Client. It has a sound card built-in and you
can take that audio stream for digital modes directly. The problem with that device would be PTT. Be careful
and don't use the 1274B, since the sound card was removed.

I am using 1274B, and it is working ok with VAC.

Can you tell me what are the connections on pins 3,4,5,6 of AUX/MIC RJ45 plug  in the Elecraft cable with the DB15 male connecting to K3Mini.

Is there a path through the RR boxes to feed LINE OUT audio from remote K3 to the AUX/Mic RJ45 jack on the Control RR Box?
