IC-7100+SIGNALINK+RRC-1258=HELP

Hello name here is Jim.  I have my IC-7100 and RRC-1258 working no problems. Next i want to add a Signalink USB box to the system by connecting it to the remote head via the mic port. So i guess my problem is i need a pinout for a cable.  Has anyone tried this before?

Jim,

I have never tried that configuration, but using a Signalink is standard for all rigs:
do not connect to the head, connect to the MIC jack of the control RRC instead.
Also connect the SP jack of the RRC for audio. You can basically program the RRC
using the red straps to use any type of microphone cable (with RJ45, but I would
assume you just use the IC-7100 microphone and a Signalink cable for that rig.

Mitch the cable i have is a 6 pin din that plugs into the main body of the radio. Are you saying plug the signalink into the i/o port on the RRC? What cable do i need for that. This is all new to me so please bear with me. The RRC-1258 works great it is a joy to use.

Jim,

No, I said that it plugs into the AUX/MIC jack of the RRC, where the microphone cable
from the IC-7100 would normally go.

Imagine that the RRC is just a long-distance extension of your rig's microphone and
speaker jacks. Instead of plugging the Signalink into the rig, you would just plug them
into the RRC instead.

Jim,

Use whatever Signalink adapter cable you use. Make sure the strapping matches it.

I was wondering......if you plug the Signalink into the Aux/Mic jack where the control head normally goes, how do you control the radio freq, etc?

But if you want to use the frontpanel, you connect the signallink to the Mic jack in the frontpanel. Like it's described on the web for the IC-706

I have the setup running as described by Mike: SignaLink to the Mic jack in the IC-7100 frontpanel using a standard Ethernet cable. My SignaLink is strapped accordingly by comparing the pin output of the Mic jack and the SignaLink, see www.tigertronics.com/sl_wirebm.htm#ICOM That way I can make digital QSO's by RemoteRig.

It works though it is not too smart to have the radio RRC digitizing the audio, the control RRC then makes the audio analog so the SignaLink can digitize the audio once more and feed it to the pc. The control RRC should be able to feed the digitized audio to the pc via the USB-cable.
