Straight key connecting please HELP !
« on: 2011-01-07, 18:22:03 »
Hi all
After some successful qso's in cw with my paddle I tried to connect my straight key, but sincerely I don't understand where to connect the 2 terminals of the key. From the i/o output on the control rrc I connected PIN 4 and 8 but nothing happens. I dont' want to try other combinations and cause a damage to the unit  :-[
What is wrong ?

Hi Andy,

have you set IO Settings / IN0 mode = Keyer?

I use internal keyer with paddle PAD input, and external keyer on 4/8 of the RJ45 connector.

Hi Thomas thanks
Now the Rig is completely working, straight key, paddle, mic. etc. !
My RJ45 cable had not exactly the same colors of the PIN of the manual....

Hi there,

I have similar problem with using straight key with remoterig.

I already connect radio unit to TRX body via stereo cable with Jack's 3,5mm (RR pad) and 6,3mm (ic-706 Body).

At the control unit  I connect  key to PAD 3,5mm jack and configure IN0 as keyer , and Iambic type "Old type , squezze keyer"

With this configuration when I try to transmit I heard from control unit speaker that keyer is working as electronic key (not straight key)

How I must change configuration to use straight key with local tone and PAD Jack ?

Straight Key must be connected to I/O connector (RJ45) In0 not to the pad jack
