Still having trouble Kenwood TS-480
« on: 2015-12-11, 06:19:07 »
So I have tested this on 2 separate local LAN's and remote I have the same problem every time i use the remote rigs.  Most all of the time the panel just gets stuck in the hello mode with no audio. If I unplug the Rj-11 and plug it back in the display and audio comes to life. I have bypassed the router and went to the cable modem no change. I also notice sometimes when I use the remote rig the decimal points are missing on the display. RR is set to mode 5. I can ping the far end with no loss both sides are on cable modems. The remote side has a straight cable RJ-11 to RJ-11 if I bypass the RR and use that cable the 480 display works just fine.  One think I notice is when I turn it on the AUX mic will come on steady red on the left and yellow on the right. after a reset the red goes out any ideas????

Hi if the RED LED light up at the Mic/Aux connector the IP connection is not working OK No RTP packets are coming in, You can also see that if you look at the status page in the RRC. There is no settings that can be changed the problem must be found between the RRC.

I can help you out. I would however suggest that you use my networking checklist to make sure
that all is installed correctly. If you don't have it, drop me a short mail at dj0qn (at) darc.de
and I will send it to you. Then I can help you located the problem.

I checked the setup, it's probably the standard problem which happens when both the radio and the RRC is connected to the same Power Supply and the Power Supply is to weak to handle the rush current when the radios starts up. Every time the startup fails I can see that the RRC has rebooted (uptime on info page). Brad will drive to the radio QTH and test with separate Power Supplies.
