IC706
« on: 2011-01-29, 22:03:31 »
I am using a 706 MK2g with Remote Rig.
When I connect the Control Head and the TRX with the prepaired cables an the
adapter everything works.
Connecting Control Head and TRX via both RRC units display stays dark
and no switching from the control head is possible.
When pushing the ON button I hear a relay click in my TRX and the
yellow LED on both RRC turns on.
Data transfer seems to be ok because green LED blinks always.
8Volt on panel side are ok but no funktion at all.
Where is my mistake?

Ok

The IP settings looks ok if the Yellow LED turns on, check the baudrate settings.
If baudrate settins are OK the most common problem is that one of the red jumper wires are broken when pushing them in to the socket, check them with a ohm meter they can be broken even if they looks ok, most important is to check the ones which is for the data signaling.

Hello Mike,
thanks for your advice.
I have checked the jumpers and settings again. When I configure with the
web-interface there is no status indication on the controler site, all other
options are ok. On the bottom of the screen appears "empty page".
Finally I checked the signals on the red jumpers of both units with a scope.
Only DC voltages are there ! RX line -1.8v, TX line -4v.
The only function is the "relay click" when pushing ON on the controler.
Both units are right out of the box and new (christmas gift). Serial nr. is 3236 (controler) and 3232(remote) Firmware 2.28.
The Remote Kit is from a German dealer.
When investigating the controler I saw some strange soldering joints around
the two 33ohm resistors on the left side of the pc-board.

Hi Kurt,

the IC706 klicks when turned on. What about the fan. Does it work after turning on the TRX? What does the status page of the remote RRC say about the radio status?

Hi Simon,
as I wrote before I can not switch any function from my control head of
the IC706. The "click" comes from from the power relay in the 706 body.
Anyway, I got exchange boxes and everything works except CW.
Do the cw-settings in the control head affect the keyer settings of the controler?
I used the paddle input of the controler-but no cw transmit.
Are any more changes in the controler setup necessary to get cw working?

Yes

You must select which output you will use for the keying signal. It's done under the I/O settings in the Radio-RRC
