Sudden Loss of Connection between units

We have had a pair of the 1258 units running a Kenwood TS480 for several years now.  Last week the connection dropped and the control head doesn't power up.  The status pages on both ends show disconnected.  I changed the type of rig to transparent as well as 4. kenwood,yaesu... hoping that it would auto connect. No change.  The connections show Disconnected.  Below is a copy of the status pages of each unit.  Any help in what I can do to troubleshoot this would be appreciated.  The units belong to KB3NL, who is blind and living in government housing.  This gives him access to the outside world and his ham radio friends.  The IP's in the units are correct and all port forwarding within the routers is correct and has been working for some time.

Important is the process of elimination. The likely problem does not lie with RemoteRig!

After resetting both ends of the system several times, it still would not connect.  I went into the menu and put it in the transparent mode and after several tries of switching types of radios I got it to connect in transparent.  Once it did a good connection in that mode, I placed it back to the TS480 selection and it is now working again.  I'm not sure what got out of place within the 2 boxes, but after many resets and changing types of radios, it cleared the fault and it is working again.

Hopefully we won't have to go down this path again and it will work flawlessly again as it has in the past.
