Can't install Setup Manager
« on: 2010-12-14, 21:58:23 »
HI
I tried to install Setup Manager but there is no icon on the desktop and in the program menu.
The file is only 2000 Kb. After running the .exe there is an installation routine of a few .jpg but nothing like the RRC Manager.
What is wrong ?

The file "MicrobitSetupManager_v1.8_2010-11-15.exe" should be have a size of 2 151 017 bytes. Executing it should show a dialog which wants to extract the installation files to a directory named "C:\MicrobitTemp". After extracting the "real" installation program should start. It suggests installation into a directory called "C:\Program Files\Microbit 2.0 AB\Microbit Setup Manager\".  After a successful installation "C:\Program Files\Microbit 2.0 AB\Microbit Setup Manager\" should contain the files shown on the attached picture file and also a short cut should have been created on the desktop.

So where in that chain of events is it going wrong for you? And what do you see in the mentioned directories?

I think there is a browser problem, the file I download is always 2101 KB.
I tried also from another PC, always 2101 KB.
Is there another link ?

The size expressed in kBytes is 2101, so that is OK. In bytes it's 2 151 017 as I wrote.

I still don't understand what exactly fails for you? Could you explain more in detail what happens when you are attempting to install?

OK, sorry, in fact it is correct....
But:
When I run the file there is a window about the installing directory:
C:\MicrobitTemp
Then a new windows appears:
NeroVision Express Content Installer
Then it move some JPG files to the NeroVision/Pictures directory
Then the installation finished successfully.....
No RRC Manager, no program in the Program files...
Sorry, I think there is a problem with my PC, but I tried on my other PC and the problem remains...

Oh dear! That was indeed a peculiar behaviour, hehe!

I have uploaded a zip-file without the selfextracting feature. Find it here:

http://www.remoterig.com/downloads/MicrobitSetupManager_v1.8_2010-11-15.zip

Extract the three files and run setup.exe and see what happens  ;)

Excellent! Enjoy!  ;D

(Maybe you have NeroVision Express Content Installer on both of them?)
