Remote a TS-480 SAT & CO
« on: 2012-10-25, 01:08:49 »
Hi all folks! I'm looking to remote my TS-480 SAT with Prosistel rotator. Who can help me with the stuff to order?
The antenna site 2 is in my father's hause at 2km from my QTH. Due to the traditional DSL latency (100ms) I'm connected straight with a Wi-Fi link with Mikrotik and Ubiquiti equipment and now the maximum latency is 3ms.
What I need to buy to remote the Rig and rotator?

Thanks in advance.

Nick

Hi you need the standard RRC-1258MkIIs set, a webswitch 1216H and a RS232 adapter cable 1216S.

Hi Nick,

Although Mike's suggestion to buy the Webswitch would be a super solution, you can also
just use the RRC COM1 ports to carry the rotor serial signal between the two RRC's without
any additional hardware. Then you can connect COM1 to your remote PC using either USB
or a standard serial cable and start any rotor control program using that serial port to control
the rotor that way.

This method has the bonus of allowing you to click and move the antenna to the correct
direction if using an integrated CAT software solution, such as HRD, TRX-Manager, etc.
The solution Mike suggested offers a nice web-based interface to control the direction instead.
