Forum no longer sends notifications
« on: 2014-02-11, 17:31:37 »
I thought it had become very quiet lately.....the problem is that notifications are no longer being sent when
a new posting is made. I verified that I am still subscribed to the notifications under the categories I am
interested in.

I guess this has been a problem for a couple of weeks now, so hope I haven't missed anything important  >:(

Which kind of notifications are you talking about? I still get email notifications for subjects I have replied to. In addition to that I use the RSS feed and on top of that I click the "Show unread posts since last visit." link just to be "ultra sure". (Why can't you do that too if you suspect that you have missed something?)

I no longer receive first posting under selected category e-mail notifications, they stopped. Notifications to this thread just
worked, so that is ok.

Yikes, I did not even know there were such a thing! Very strange that it no longer works while the other notifications still work. One would think either both work or none. Will have to dig into it a bit and see what can be done.

How do you think I always responded so quickly to posts until this stopped working?  ;)

Now my secret is out.....I hope it works again soon. I have been so busy, that I never really
paid attention until this week and realized that there have been posts being made the whole time.

Thanks for looking into this, Jan.

I have trouble with your feeds in my RSS reader, they multiply and it makes it quite useless.
There is apparently a compatibility problem between my reader and your RSS feed, but I would
assume it is a reader problem.

I also travel a lot and get mails "pushed" to my phone, so that makes it easier for me.

I just tested it on my ordinary account by creating another test account. I enabled Notification on a Board from my ordinary account and posted a new topic in the board using the test account. I then got an email looking like this:

A new topic, 'Test2', has been made on a board you are watching.

You can see it at
http://www.remoterig.com/forum/index.php?topic=2394.new#new

More topics may be posted, but you won't receive more email notifications until you return to the board and read some of them.

so it seems it works for me at least.

Have you tried deactivate and then activate notifications again?

You could try adding notifications here:

http://www.remoterig.com/forum/index.php?board=29.0

(That board is sadly enough "dead"...  ;) And then I will add more test messages there.

That is what I received until sometime in January.

I will try deactivating and reactivating my notifications and see if that solves the problem.

I went through all my sections and changed notifications to off and back to on. I added this one as well.

That worked.....let's see if resetting the other boards work. I will let you know.
