Feature request for webswitch
« on: 2010-12-18, 22:01:11 »
The remoterig webswitches are very handy items. It would be a great feature to be able to configure the relays also for a pulse-mode with definable duration. Some applications need pulse switches and you have to solve the problem with external switching devices.

Another request. I would like to see the possibility to turn ALL relays OFF / ON
with one push button. de Lars SM3CCM

You mean that instead of remaining on or off the relays would "pulse"? If so, how would they pulse? One time for on, one time for off, and so on "toggling"? What would be the desirable min and max durations?
Always include type of hard/software and version when asking for support.

Hi Jan, In my opinion the toggling should be always ON , not OFF, just closing the contact for about 1 Sec would do the trick.

Happy season greetings

Another request for the webswitch Jan (asked b4 via private mail)
is the page-size of the webswitch, selectable between full page
or 640*480 or even 480*800 (Mobile phone) would make it more
usable for mobile users, I do the switching via my HTC-HD2,
I have to rezoom everytime the page reloads because it is getting
very small on that screen

Hi Jan

Mostly a positive pulse is needed, that means to activate (close) the relay for one short time period. Negative pulse (switch off) for a short time could also be interesting. Maybe there will be a chance to offer a selection of negative/positive pulsing by software. It would be desirable beeing able to set the pulse duration by software, some devices need different pulse lengths.

That is what I meant, though maybe wasn't expressing it in an understandable way ;)

I use my Nokia N97 and I don't feel there is a problem like that. The web browser in the N97 shows only a part of the whole page as default, so zooming isn't necessary in order to be able to read the page, but might be needed in order to click some of the links. In my experience it is very hard to design a web page so it fits all mobile devices, as their characteristics are so different.

Hi Jan,
thats the difference between nokia and HTC (my ipad has the same problem)
screens are bigger and thats why they reload the full page and not only a part of it
even when there is only 10% used.

Nokia has got several different display sizes and resolutions. The N97 has 360x640 pixels on a rather big display, which is a display with a average resolution IMHO, not as high resolution as iPhone, not as low as many cheaper models. I would say that the main difference is how the web browser in the phone is designed, some try to squeeze in the whole page by shrinking it, some don't.

Anyway, having different designs is a hard thing since the webswitch is far from a PC when it comes to resources  ;)

There is however always the possibility to access the different pages "frame less" by using direct page URLs, and so saving display space.

Jan I agree,
this is from a mail I sended to Mike in august

"Now it is full screen all the time and I was hoping that you consider
to add another screen for instance http://192.168.0.227/setswitchsmall.htm that has a max size of 320*480 or 480*800 to make it friendly for pda-gsm users."

Opera (HTC) and Safari (IPAD or IPHONE) web browsers are reloading the full page nomatter if there is only 10% used, so adding a second page without frames or a smaller size would sure fix it

BTW any progress on using ARCP-480 with the pc-client instead of HRD ?
