Mode 4 is when you have a radio without a workable front panel (yaesu) or no panel. You will see a connect/disconnect button on bottom of "status" page in this mode.  Pressing "connect" button on status page will initiate SIP session and connect both your remoterigs. Mode 5 is when there is a panel like TS480 or TMD710. Pressing "power" button will initiate SIP session and power on your panel and radio at other end.

I use a Kenwood TS480HX with no issues. Make sure cable between front panel and Remoterig is good and uses 4 wire RJ11 connectors or 6 wire RJ12. Don't use RJ11 that only have 2 wires in them. Also make sure you have good power supply (1 amp or more) on remoterig control side to power the front panel.

You will only see it in program mode 4. In program mode 5 it is not there because you will use front panel.

A ts-480 with detachable frontpanel should be used in mode 5 and there should not be a connect button on the status page. The connect and disconnect are controlled automatically from the PWR on button on the control panel. If nothing happens when pressing the pwr on button your cable is wrong or you have not set the baudrate to 57600 so the RRC can not recognize the power on command.

Good evening Mike,
I confirm that speed through the control box, radio box and the menu in ts480 is 57600- when I put the two wires one after another, directly between the front panel and the radio, turn  is ok- I'll check again  my two cables-73s Franck-

If everything works besides the PTT and Mic audio then the straps are probably missplaced or broken. Check the placement against the manual, check that you have the box the same way as on the picture in the manual. If straps are placed OK check them with an ohm meter, they can have been broken when pressed into the socket, even if it's not visible. There is no settings that can be wrong, only straps or the Mic-cable from Radio-RRC to Radio.
