RRC Internal Wifi
« on: 2012-04-30, 13:58:11 »
Hi,

I have updated my RRC's firmware up to 2.57.
I can see that the new menu includes a Wifi section.
Is it intended for what? I have read that some hardware will be available.
Will it be possible to use it in a RRC v1 box?
I am very interested in the remote side to avoid LAN/wifi bridges.

Hi Mike,

Any estimated information on availability,price,etc?
Any limitation on data-throughput?

b/g only? No a or/and n? Will allow WPA2-PSK and/or WPA2-AES? Wold be very nice to support WMM, I dream QoS sometimes in the future. Tnx Mike, excellent idea with internal wifi card

Hi

QoS support has been there for a long time and is used by commercial customers with their own LAN/WAN, see under anvanced settings. I don't think you have an use of it over the Internet.

about the WiFi

- Compliant to 802.11b/g and single stream 802.11n

- Supports WPA2- (AES), WEP (64 and 128 bit) modes of security in infrastructure mode and also TKIP in SPI mode.

Any timeline on product sale?  Really could use this as I am completely stuck and cannot easily get to wireless networks on the road.

Thanks,

Keith

We have not yet get the delivery time and price from our producer. We will do our best to hurry up with at least a smaller pre production batch. Since the volumes are so small the prices will not be as low as mass produced standard equipment that you can buy and connect via the ethernet port.

It's no limitation in speed, the WiFi link handles far more data-throughput than the RRC need.
