FT-100D
« on: 2010-01-31, 03:56:36 »
Am thinking of remoting an FT-100D in Canada, and controlling from the States. Is this possible with the Micro-bit boxes? Would a different radio work better? Is a DSL line sufficient? Will a plain old telephone line work as well?

Yes, I am a newbie at all this!

Thanks,

Jim, W1EQO

Hi Jim!

You can work any CAT-capable rig remotely if you use a rig control program like Ham Radio deLuxe or similar. You simply extend the serial cable and sound wires over the internet using the RRC boxes. Compatible radios with detachable control panels are Icom IC-70x, Kenwood TS-480 and TS-2000 plus some VHF radios.

A DSL line is OK. 3G and the likes are usually not OK but may work if your cell is in an area with little traffic.

Most questions have been answered here in this forum so lean back and read the thread. You will find lots of info here and at the www.remmoterig.com website.
