Logging data locally in Websw for retrival ?
« on: 2012-09-30, 10:47:13 »
Hi there

Yesterday I had a interesting discussion with a Websw user asking for a interesting feature.

What at about a function where the websw temp information data is kept in a local database for later retrival??

The data could for example be pulled for statistical analysis on energy usage vs in/outdoor temperature.

Great thing would of course be if a sensor could be put onto the electrical powermeter ( Elmätare in Swedish )  so that the database would include the energy used in direct relation to temperature.

I´m fully aware that this is function is not all about doing clever software. It is also a matter of memory available in the 1216H.

Maybe a external USB-stick or SD-card could be used for that ??

Best regards / SM0JZT / Tilman D. Thulesius

Storing data like that in the Webswitch would be possible, but isn't the easiest to implement and also the memory available is an issue like you say. Another alternative which has been suggested by an user is to add support for http://cosm.com/. Doing so the Webswitch could push data to their system and from there it would be possible to get it for presentation/analyzing/etc.
Always include type of hard/software and version when asking for support.

Or you could add a feature that pushes a xml-file with all relevant states and measurements to a URL. Then it is up to the receiving server to store the data otr use it for whatever purpose.

Yes, that is also an option.

I noticed that Cosm is able to pull data from a device too, so the coming 2.9 version will support getting raw and simple temperature and humidity readings from the Webswitch, which then can be used with their CSV format data pull feature.
Always include type of hard/software and version when asking for support.

Hi Jan!

Have you been able to implement support for raw temperature readings from the webswitch? I haven't noticed it in the manual or menus.

SNMP support would be the easiest to read.

What is available is this(Reading via HTTP):

http://www.webswitch.se/wp/?page_id=342

Do you mean that you have not seen that page before?  ;)

SNMP is not avaialble though.
